I've had it a couple times. Hate to be critical but I wasn't too impressed. Don't get me wrong, it's a good beer. I'd just rather drink more of the regular ipa at a lower abv so I can have more of them before clocking out for the night. They set the bar pretty high with the single ipa and the double doesn't quite deliver like I'd expect it to after having the single.

Thats why I posted, I don't mind the ABV, but I get almost no scent and the taste is good, but not great. I was underwhelmed and didn't think I would be at all.

I don't know if they have re-brewed this since doing it for their 2nd anniversary. If the keg is actually that old, I am sure that is why the hops and taste may be off. I remember it being a pretty good DIPA back when it was fresh.

512 tends to re-brew their previous anniversary beers before releasing a new one. I doubt someone sat on a keg of IIPA for two years. That's like the time South Lamar Wine and Spirits told me people prefer GUBNA with a year of age on it. Ugh...

Called Kragen, I think it is wine barrels (actually a blend of French Oak and wine barrels). The Ginerman usually has some that they save for special occasions in Houston. Believe it or not so does Stags Head, Mucky Ducks, and Rudyards. Usually all on cask, which is awesome:sunglasses:

As for 512 DIPA, http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17863/61208 was one of their anniversary beers. I am unaware of any other DIPA that they made.

I had it when it first came around and then again about a year later. Unfortunately I do know what an old ipa/iipa tastes like and I'm pretty damn sure they brewed another batch of it. Either that or I need to trade my taste buds in for some better ones.

Green Dragon in Portland, Oregon sat on a keg of Younger for about 10 months back in 2010.
