yeah. this colossal mountain of expensive shit was discussed a while back, over a year. A home brew setup for the guy who can't be bothered with a hobby but has some money to waste.

"The Worlds First Personal Brewery" is obnoxious. These guys have apparently never been in any of our basements. I could go on, but it's already been too much of a waste of time.
    Cheers.

Yup. I appreciate the design and what went into making it but something like this seems to take all the joy out of making beer.

It is kind of cool, though. it's kind of like a Super Automatic Espresso machine - no skill or artistry necessary, but a damn fine shot, nevertheless. But clearly not for someone who is passionate about homebrewing. What could you possibly contribute to the discussion at a brew club meeting?

Someone with more money than sense will buy it. And his friends will think it's cool.

$5660 New Zealand dollars which comes out to be about $4770 USD. Then add tax + shipping...a lot.

for the record... If I ever win the lotto... I am buying one. Purely to piss most of you off :sunglasses:. and because the guys who engineered it should at least see a little green.

I will use it once... then set it next to a set up made of buckets and glass bottles haha.

The only thing missing in that“ apparatus“ is a Williams employee sitting in your living couch drinking that shitty beer and f*cking your wife. This way life will be perfectly automatic.

I think a lot of us will knock it because we've put blood sweat and toil into our brews. For others, I'll agree that it's a Rolex, a Rolls Royce, a cod piece, etc. Something just to show friends. I'm glad the damn thing costs so much.

Lots of people don't work on their own electrical work, plumbing, cars, and I guess others don't work on their homebrews.

This system will only become interesting after some rich guy buys it, rapidly becomes disinterested, and scraps it. Some real homebrewer will salvage it from a dumpster, cut it up, weld it back together, and convert it into some ultracool brew sculpture. Homebrewing is about the doing. Anyone who doesn't enjoy that should just stock a fridge with good craft beer.

I could see the value of a temperature controlled conical, but I would still want to put something other than a can of syrup into it.

Also not sure that I would want to tie up the temperature controlled conical as a serving vessel when I could be productively making more world-class beer.

Still, I could just imagine how awesome my 11.5% Wee Heavy that I made last year and aged on oak cubes would have tasted in just 5 days. Or the 10% Belgian Strong Dark that I conditioned all year before giving as Christmas presents.

While I don't see any world class brews being produced by this thing, I suspect it achieves a high level of consistency. I think it might be fun to massage it into something that could really kick some a$$.

OTOH, for that kind of money, you could probably build something from scratch that would be even better suited to what typical homebrewers are churning out today (I mean that in a good way ), including an automated mash tun - arguably, the most finicky part of the process. (hmmmmm... I smell a summer project!)
