I have , for years, had a few beer related T shirts in the drawer. I like grabbing a shirt occasionally at a great brewery visit, but lately I have seen it becoming a fashion trend that maybe is bordering on ridiculous.
Went to a local brewery the other day to get a growler and there were two guys at the bar sampling. One guy had on a Great Divide work type shirt, a Great Divide hat, and his buddy had a coordinated Three Floyds shirt and hat combo.
Not judging, but found it funny that wearing beer advertisements has become a style. Used to be, beer distributors and breweries gave out shirts because they wanted the advertisement...people wore them to wash the car,etc
Now it seems it is high fashion and people are paying lots of money for this stuff and wearing out on the town...interesting.

I don't think I've ever worn "merch" that wasn't free. If I'm gonna pay for clothes, they're gonna be normal ass clothes. I'm not your billboard.

^^right...that's kinda my point. Now it's cool to wear a $50 three Floyds shirt...that's a lot of beer.

The hat and shirt combo is a bit much for me, but, to each their own. I see no problem with supporting your favorite brewery.

Well...that's it folks...shut down the forum. Obviously you are correct, but this new fashions trend makes for interesting conversation.

{shrug} I wear my Hill Farmstead t-shirt with pride, but I'm unlikely to gear up much more. But to each his or her own.

Sadly I've bought or been gifted, but never worn many shirts.

I do notice a great # of random brewery shirts on the weekends when people decide to go brewery hopping. I think it's great. But its usually just a casual cotton shirt. So it doesnt feel forced. Any weekend stop at La Cumbre, I have seen stuff from Denver, the midwest, west coast, and a random assortment of other breweries. They wear what they love as they try what will hopefully become a trip defying beer and experience.

The merchandise field is way under utilized IMHO. I love the MLB on field caps. I wish breweries would go that on field fitted variety (doesnt have to be New Era).

Even when talking about gift sets. Unless these breweries have to inventory and set ouyt exactly what they want to sell to consumers to the federal/state regulators, a random 4 pack, a couzie, and t shirt combo for X amount is a killer deal.

I think it is a good thing that breweries are now cool. If someone wants to give a brewery some money and advertising....good.

Wonder why you don't see people wearing shirts advertising wineries and/or distilleries.

I occasionally wear a Corona sleeveless t-shirt I bought in Mexico years ago. I also wear a dogfish hat in the summer to keep the sun off of the bald spot in the back of my head!

The hat and the shirt together are a little much but i wear brewery T-shirts sometimes as whenever i visit a brewery i usually like to buy a glass or a shirt or something so they are bound to make it into my wardrobe rotation. Is it really any different than wearing a shirt with your favorite sports team?

All right...I confess...I like the merch but i dont purchase a ton of it. I wear a baseball hat all the time, and I dont have a problem with my forehead being a mini billboard for a brewery i truly like. T-shirts not so much. We have a nice pile of brewery glassware accumulating.

But the OP is correct. I have observed a lot of brewery clothing and co-ordinated outfits lately, and to each their own. Who am I to judge anyone based on what they wear? I just wish there was a way to tell the difference between the ones wearing the shirt because it looks cool and those that have been to the brewery or actually like the beer. Struck up a conversation with a guy wearing a Ballast Point shirt to eventually find out he had never even tried a BP beer.

I've got about a dozen t-shirts , 3 hoodies and had a few military style hats , a bunch of B.A. shirts from working fests and my denim jackets with brewery patches . Other than the B.A. shirts the only free ones were 2 different Mayflower t-shirts from tap take overs . I wear beer t-shirts all the time .

Most beer geek's are so poorly dressed it's sad. Brewery gear is part of of the puzzle.

A slight pet peeve is wearing the brewery on your shirt/hoodie/hat combo at the same place you are visiting.. I get it. Youre a big fan. You love the beer. I love the beer too. But in some sense, you actually look like a brewery employee *many of which wear either their own breweries named shirts or a craft brewery from afar. I know some places wear Pliny shirts, or great divide etc.. In essence, it is all craft. But it becomes super confusing as they wear whatever they wanna wear, consumers wear stuff that looks like staff gear, and out of towners end up looking like staff members too.

It's a very small, GOOD, type of problem to have. I laugh most of the time. I haven't been caught at a local place wearing their gear just yet. I see countless growler fillers spot their gear in that same place.. Good for them. No love lost

Yeah, well, but you have to wear the band t-shirt to the brewery and the brewery t-shirt to the concert; sports is ok for some reason. Anyway- don't be 'that guy'.
