It's out too. Shocked it took this many posts to be mentiomed. I saw the pumpking on the shelf and said NO! Then saw the Warlock and said YESSS!!! My buddys recieved his pumpking allocation, but when I asked him about Warlock, he didn't think to order that at the same time, and its all allocated now. I would have reminded him, but never thought it'd be out this early.

Pumking just showed up in Northern Kentucky yesterday (Tues, July 22). Seems like these are arriving earlier and earlier every year. Of course I snagged one. Heck, it's my traditional Halloween beer. I'll stick it in the fridge and crack it open while I hand out candy to the kiddies.

I was just told Aug.1st for Warlock at my local Total Wines in Miami. Not too bad I guess.

Pumpkin beer in July just doesn't make any sense to me, but that's only my humble opinion. That being said, it doesn't bother me much that they are already putting it on the shelves, as not everyone feels as strongly about the whole "seasonal purity" thing. Especially since its Pumking that seems to be the prominent early arrival here--I love pumpkin beer, but I found Pumking to be disgusting.

Is there any good affect of aging Pumking? Or any pumpkin beer for that matter

I tried this with very very bad results. If they use pumpkin in their mash it tends to turn sour after 2-4 months.

    edit - just my experience.

I found that Pumking with age was an interesting experiment, but ultimately not worth it. My recommendation would be to enjoy the pumpkin beers while they are fresh.

For Christmas 2012 my GF bought me a case of Pumking. I probably still had 2 or 3 bottles in late spring-early summer of 2013 and it didn't taste the same. I didn't get any souring but I really didn't get much of anything else either. It lost a lot of it's originally strong flavor profile.

Edit: I also saved a bottle for the 2013 fall season. I had the same experience with that bottle as the ones I saved into spring and summer.

I have had Pumking with 1/2 years aging and tasted ok....not quite as strong and some of the sweetness mellows out as well - but Pumking is not my favorite pumpkin beer

Most of the Imperial / BIG pumpkins, with 8+ % abv will age quite well and some actually get better with some time in the cellar....esp, those aged in bourbon or rum barrels....yum!
