Have you had family or friends or anyone give you a look or say something to you about how Bud Light is a man's beer and what you're drinking is shit? I'd find this funny if I wasn't too busy cringing at the irony.

A manly man drinking Bud Light and smoking Marlboro's... if only he knew.

Not yet! though I would be used to it since I used to drink wine and would be routinely be made fun of for drinking Riesling. :-)

Nope. Another problem that seems to only exist on BA.

I was in Baltimore once and the bar had a 375 of Cantillon Kriek, which I ordered. I was with my girlfriend and another girl, who gave me once of these :astonished: looks when she saw my tulip glass and pink-ish beer. She, meanwhile, ordered a 32 oz chocolate peanut butter stout. Definitely a funny moment.

(My Cantillon Kriek was awesome, BTW, and her stout sucked.)

I've seen it a few times... I think its funny when someone who is drinking a beer that clearly says "Light" or "Lite" thinks they have the "manly beer" and accuses someone who is drinking the 7.5% ABV IPA of having the "fancy" beer... not that ABVs is the measure of manliness.

I assume it has something to do with the rest of you guys presumably not looking thirteen like I do.

Yes, and I usually don't take the bait. I simply reply that my beer is made with the same 4 ingredients as yours...minus corn or rice.

I assume it has something to do with the group of friends you hang out with.

I have a couple buddies that will rib me a bit sometimes; saying, 'oh there he goes with his fancy beers'. But it is all in good fun, and half the time they ask to try it later and find out it is delicious. I have accidentally switched a couple of friends over to a couple different beers just by feeding their curiosity (I never actively try to get people to switch from what they like to drink. I say drink what you like). Outside of having a bit of fun, if people around you are dogging you on your drinks (not just joking with you), then I say find some new people.

    Nope!

People do call my beer "specialty beer" for some reason though.

Maybe once? I don't know. A dude would have to be awfully insecure to say something like that, I think.

Drink what you want. For instance, saw a good-ol' boy at the bar yesterday who looked like he had or was going to kill somebody, and he was sipping red wine. Manly as f***.

I've told several beer friends this, but this exact situation happened to me at my cousins house on New Year's Eve. We were gathered around the dining table playing cards, and both of my cousin's husbands were drinking some 3.2% BMC whatever from Oklahoma. Over the course of two hours, every time one husband would get up, they'd get another beer for each of them. Well, one of them went to get their sixth. He came back, looked at my three bottles on the table, said I wasn't drinking 'real beer', and loudly proclaimed what a lightweight I was because they were on number six and I was only just about to finish number three. I pointed to the first bottle and said, "Brewdog Tokyo; 18.2%.". Pointed to the second; "Prairie Bible Belt; 13%.". Third bottle; "Avery Tweak; 17.81%". I just stared at him and said, "Did you say something?"

    I drink "Bud Light, ~(but I don't)~ smoking Marlboro's...~(or anything else)"

So, what is this, the revenge of the wusses? Do people actually feel insecure that the beer of and for the common man is the beer of choice by so many?

So, yes I drink Bud Light, but not exclusively, and don't think any less of those that do.

Good beer is simply out of reach by most of the hoi polloi.

No and I usually don't care what other people drink either... well unless it's a Michelob Ultra
