Haven in Pasadena is apparently now closed. Sad to find that out, I enjoyed getting flights there. Anyone know what's going on?
Yeah, I heard that as well. But hadn't heard of the reasoning. I would be interested in the reasons for the closing as well.
That location has a huge turnover. I can think of at least 6 other places that were there in the last 10-15 years and nothing seems to last.
From Facebook; Haven Gastropub +BreweryThank you for all your kind words. We fought for our life in this building with a cursed history, and took every one of those jobs very seriously. The banks who own the building forced us out through complicated circumstances, and sadly there was just nothing we could do. 3 hours ago
What a disappointment. The few times that I was there, they had a great tap line up and good food. It seemed like it was a successful business. I am surprised to hear that they have closed there doors. It looks like the Old Towne Orange location is still open. So I would expect that they will still be brewing.
Yeah, I can't believe anyone is going to be able to make it in that space. It's cavernous, the rent has to be bonkers, and it's not actually on Colorado. Unless you're packed to the gills day and night I'd be shocked to see it work.
Yes. They don't brew in Orange, it's just a gastropub. Sounds like Haven Brewing will no longer exist, unless they find elsewhere to brew.
From a post on FB by Fast Food Maven: I'm going to try and get more details tomorrow. But it looks like Haven Pasadena has closed. What I've been told: the three Haven Collective partners have split the business. Wil Dee and Greg Daniels now own Haven in Orange and Provisions Market. Former partner Ace Patel took ownership of taco asylum and Haven Pasadena. As part of the agreement, Patel was supposed to rebrand Haven in Pasadena. But instead, he closed it. I've been told, this closure in no way impacts Haven in Orange. Everything on solid ground. Only thing unclear: how does this impact the Haven label beers since they were brewed in Pasadena. Will try and get more details
I'm pretty sure that it'll impact the brewing label pretty heavily. And I concur. I don't get how any business could survive in that spot. It's tucked away in the back and doesn't have the street traffic that Lucky Baldwins does. But hey, at least there wont be any more cluster fuck of Younger releases to worry about.
It's a tough business these days. I have not been to the Pasadena location but have gone to the Orange a few times several years ago. Haven't been since. I got to say I wasn't all that pleased with the Orange location. Beer selection was okay. Price was a bit high. And the food I was not at all pleased, pricing and taste. I did give it a try a few times. A place that doesn't serve real ketchup? Come on now. Get real. Plus its in a high rent area. It's a business. And we are all out to make the bucks. Some will die and others will survive.
Damn. That's a huge bummer. Always liked the Pasadena locale a whole lot more than the Orange one. Wonder if they'll be able to find another spot in the same area. Seems like it's less their problem and more the building ownership's, no? Perhaps with a smaller space (the Pasadena one was probably larger than necessary), they could get right back on their feet over there.
In theory, it isn't a bad spot. Just off Colorado with a lot of activity a block away. Several other places do well just off Colorado. That block just doesn't get much incidental traffic. If you are walking or driving past it, you intend to be passing by, not looking to see what catches your eye. I lived near Old Pas from 2004 to 2011 and there were three or four businesses in that space during the time with what seemed like long periods of non-operation separating them.
The space did not present well from the outside. The inside was too black. The layout felt strange too. This is my impression from a visit shortly after they opened. It was not a good enough impression to get me to go back.
