Has anyone else been anxiously awaiting the opening of the taproom in Bridgman? I've been following their progress, and they've been delayed from their Fall/October timeline to now seemingly being Winter/January 2017. It seems like they are really close to opening, but not sure if they will bother to open before the new year at this point.

Regardless, I thought we could have a thread dedicated to the food, beer and experience there once they open up (or any information we have leading up to the opening). I believe they're supposed to have a canning or bottling line of some sort as well (thought it was canning, but could be wrong), so it'll be cool to start getting some packaged beer from them.

As someone who is never in Michigan, no, I'm not anxiously awaiting this.

With that being said, I think they're criminally underrated in Chicago, so I can certainly see someone with ties to Michigan (or the Spartan as their avatar) being excited for the expansion. I'm just hoping the city of Chicago sees something as a result of this (a ramp up in production of their BA stuff, more to-go sales, cans, etc.).

edit: Also, good for all you Michiganers and for Haymarket that this is happening. I'm glad more people are going to see to see how talented their brewers are.

Haha...it seems so many BA's from Chicago make the trip over to Michigan a decent amount that I figured quite a few would be looking forward to this (as a side note, you REALLY should make it to MI...it's a fantastic state!). I actually have never even eaten at the Haymarket location in Chicago... although I may change that in the coming weeks with so much time off. I am hoping the MI location can serve as a good craft beer spot where I can stop for lunch or dinner with my family since I drive by there once a month or so throughout the year.

Yeah I've noticed that too; I've been to Ann Arbor to see U of M (didn't attend there, so don't worry! My dad went to grad school at Michigan State, so I root for them), but that's about it. I'd like to go up north (especially with Transient and now Haymarket), just have to convince the lady!

I would imagine they'll start tapping their BA stuff at Haymarket soon, in which case, yes, I'd head over. Have the Riot if you can; it's excellent. They have good burgers too, but you're right across the street from Au Cheval, so you might as well go there if you just want a burger.

Apparently they'll also be open on Christmas at 5pm, with $1 pints of house beer. That's a fantastic deal, although not one I'll be in the position to take them up on.

Man, what with Transient, Haymarket, Greenbush, and Tapistry (and Cultivate and Burn 'em and Shoreline) I'm gonna have to wake the kids up extra early and stay extra late to sober up on beach trips to SW MI this summer.

Glad to hear this is still in the works. I had kind of let this go under my radar after first hearing about this maybe a year or more ago. Another great destination along the lake!

Saw this too. Pretty excited about checking this out. Planning a bus trip from Northern Indiana and Haymarket will definitely be on the list. Most likely Greenbush and The Livery, but also considering Cultivate, Watermark, Arclight, Final Gravity, and Transient. Too many I know to fit all in one trip, some some will have to get cut.

Nobody actually visit there yet? I'm hoping to check it out next weekend on my way back to Chicago from Detroit.

I went on Thursday evening to check it out so here is a little more detailed report than maybe you wanted. The space is a good size with fairly large bar area and open seating in the dining area. There are large community tables so when it's busy you may have to squeeze between two groups, like we did on Thursday, in order to get a seat.

If you're going to sit at one of the large tables you will place your beer and food order at one of the two kiosks set up at the end of the bar. They'll pour the beer immediately and you'll receive a number for your food, which will be delivered to your table when it's ready.

There looked to be around a dozen tap handles set up behind the bar, but on Thursday there were only six beers on tap.

They have two large wood fired ovens so they are focusing on pizza and, as I found out after dining, some sandwiches. The pizza was very good albeit on the small side, especially for the $13 price tag. They aren't small enough to be considered personal size but are just small enough that it left both of us feeling hungry when we left.

If you're heading to Bridgman slow down if it's dark when you think you're close, it's very poorly lit and marked from the road.
