Hey new to the forum, own a kegerator and this is my third half barrel that I just brought home and after tapping it tonight realized it was kegged on April 26th. The keg is Juicy gorilla snax which is a hazy. I know hazy's don't last as long as pasteurized beers but doesn't taste bad, not as fruity as it should be obviously. I'm aware you can't return kegs after being tapped but I also don't want to risk getting sick. Generally I can finish a keg in about 2 months. Do you think I will be ok? Thanks!

It won’t make you sick, it just isn’t fresh. Always check the dates before you leave the store, IPAs, hazy or not, last about 90 days. Hazy and pasteurizing have nothing to do with that.

That's good to hear and thanks for the reply. Still little disappointed spending a few hundred on a keg and it not being fresh. Guess that's a learning lesson for next time, won't be leaving the store without checking the kegged date!

You could always call and see what they will do for you. It is really the distributors fault and they likely have an out to allow them to take stuff back. A bad half barrel is a lot of pain. I’ve returned a keg for off taste before.

Why can't you? Old beer is old beer and, if you don't check date codes, you can't tell a be if off until you taste it.
