Old Nation hazy IPAs have instructions to “roll can prior to drinking” (or don’t). Equilibrium hazies pour almost clear initially then become turbid once the sediment toward the bottom of the can is poured in. Tree House trub can be super gritty and bitter. I always try NOT to pour in the dregs.

What’s your opinion on this? Should breweries provide more instruction? I feel like sometimes the sediment is an essential component of the beer and other times it makes the beer excessively bitter. Thoughts?

I'll always go for the sediment sea-monkey pour the first time; if I find it... off-putting, then I try to store upright, and not pour out the full bottom-gunk on the next can (or 3, or 5).
    How's Satan doin', Damian?

What @eppCOS said. I always try NEIPAs with the full on hazy, yeasty pour first. If the sediment tastes nasty I will decant them from then on.
Though in my personal experience/taste, terrible tasting yeast sediment turns me off, as NEIPA is a primarily haze/yeast driven style.

I like floaters, I pour like any other beer or take it right from the can.

The trick is to get in there with a spoon and eat the dregs like tapioca.

In all seriousness, I pour almost all of it, but with IPAs, I'll leave about a teaspoon at the bottom of the can. Only to avoid the biggest, gnarliest chunks. I don't really mind it either way, and I'll always reserve the last pour of saisons/wild ales/lambic. It's really a matter of personal preference, and there's no right or wrong way.

Store cans upside down in the fridge, no roll nor shake necessary. Not my idea but a good one.

If in a can decant if you can, if it is in a bottle and you can't decant don't.
