So this week I'm headed down to Southport, NC to visit my sister. I'll be heading down 95 and wondering if there's anything I should seek out that I might not find up in PA. Also, a couple weeks from now I'll be going to Pinehurst, and basically the same question. Thanks.

I assume you'll head through/past Wilmington. There's a couple good stores there (Lighthouse, Cape Fear). For breweries, look for Mother Earth, Foothills, Lonerider, possibly Aviator (not sure if they get out of the Triangle area).

Yup I'll be around that area at some point or on the way there or back. Thanks for the info.

You could keep an eye out for this: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/11036/47378
Barrel Aged Peoples' Porter by Foothills. Haven't tried mine yet, but it should be around $7 for a bomber. Olde Hickory is also a well-regarded local brewer. Same with Pisgah.

Pisgah and OHB are both good, but I don't think either will be available in SE NC. The Triangle only got OHB last year and doesn't get Pisgah unless someone drives out and picks it up.

Yea, like ewright said, OHB probably isn't out on the East coast of NC, but if for some reason you do find it out there, pick up their Imperial Stout, absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend Foothills though, should be available out there. Highland has some decent brews too.

Have fun man, I have a beach house at Oak Island. Can't wait to get down there. And you will be able to find Foothills stuff in Wilmington. My brother-in-law lives there and he was able to get some Foothills BBL People's Porter.

Like everyone else said, foothills and ohb, both are available at lighthouse near Wilmington. Southport is a bit of a trek though, probably 30-45 mins. Hit up cape fear wine and beer if you can too.

The Duck Rabbit tasting room in Farmville is a bit of a detour off I 95, but it may be worth your time. I'd also look for Mother Earth Brewing's beers.

Thanks guys. I'm going to be in Wilmington one day I believe, so I'll check that out. I kind of want to try Founders All Day IPA, hopefully I'll be able to find that and some local stuff. In PA we get everything founders, except that.
