Heading out to Hershey Park next week from central NJ..

I plan on hitting Troeggs, but any other recommendation?

Brewery, bottle shop, or even bars for a beer and a quick bite?

Pizza Boy Brewing (Al's of Hampdens) has a hundred taps on, thirty of them their beers, which are good (better than the pizza). They are about twenty minutes from Troegs, but worth the visit if you've the time.

About two miles from Troegs there's a restaurant called Smoked that has a donut burger on its menu, which is yummy delicious (if you're a glutton like me, please ask that they add a dippy egg on top); they've a smaller but attractive tap selection too.

ProTip: Minetown Restaurant is the only place inside of the park that serves beer, nothing crazy but they usually have Perpetual and/or Hopback on draft as well as something from Yards.

Brass Rail is the closest bottle shop, tiny and prices can be high but it's the only option around there.

As said above Smoked has good food a decent beer selection, plus it's really close to the park.

Big fan of the Warwick Hotel over in Hummelstown, just a little farther away than Smoked. Usually doesn't get inundated with the tourist crowd, good food, and a good beer list.

Also as said above if you have time Al's of Hampden/Pizza Boy is the way to go. Tons of draft beer and selection of beers to go.

Going for the weekend.. can't revolve around beer but hopefully can sneak a few in. Is pizza boy worth the drive?

any thoughts on Spring House or Rumsrpringa? Looks like we may pass them if we stop in Lancaster

We went out to Hershey from Jersey a while back and hit Pizza Boy on the way out there - I'd def stop there if you can work it around lunch it's a win/win. Tons of beers on tap - and decent prices for growlers too.

a heads up - parking during peak hours on weekend at Troegs can be a nightmare. Like the parking lot fills up 100% and there are no spots.

When it's full and you've already entered, you can't quickly escape--you are trapped in this slow carousel of increasing murderous rage, as you are confronted with the realization that, not only are the chances of stumbling upon a vacating space miniscule, but your goal of beers now has been delayed indefinitely.

Federal Taphouse in Harrisburg is going to be closer to the park than Al's (although if you're stopping some place on the way to the park from NJ, you can arrange it so you pass Al's)and, in my opinion, usually has a better tap list. Both places have their current list available online.

Don't get the brewery experience at Federal Taphouse (but, given the service at Al's, that not a negative) and I just personally just give preference to breweries > bars when on road trips. But agree Federal Taphouse is a good recommendation with 100 taps as well and a solid menu--little bit of everything (that pork belly app is super).

If you're passing through Lancaster, it's probably worth checking out the taplist at The Fridge. They sometimes have Hill Farmstead, and usually have Tired Hands, so you could always pop in for a quick glass if something catches your eye. Plus it's a good bottle shop.

Thank you everyone. I tend to go for the brewery experience as well. The Fridge looks like a stop as well. any thoughts on Springhouse or Rumspringa?

I like Spring House a lot. I personally prefer the new brewery location on Hazel Street better. Better food, more space, full service tables and free on-site parking. The Taproom downtown is nice, but has its downfalls on weekends; it's smaller, no full service tables, and a minor hassle dealing with the pay parking lots at prime times. If you're going with kids, I'd hands down recommend the Hazel Street location.

Parking at Troegs sucks. On the way to Hershey, you could stop in Kutztown, exit 40 (Route 737). There are two breweries not far, Golden Avalanche and Saucony Creek.

If you have time and can connect with a tour, go for it. Need to check the website.

Planning a trip to Harrisburg, Hershey and Lancaster next month, and wondering if there is any busses that travel between breweries? It's just my husband and I and we have at least six places we want to go in two days between the three towns. If we are too sloshed to drive what are our options?

Six Breweries/Brewpubs that is. Definitely want to go to Pizzaboy, Troegs and Springhouse. Maybe Lancaster Brewing and Stoudts. Is Federal Taphouse worth stopping at since its near Pizzaboy? This my 5th wedding anniversary trip!

RE: Troegs parking. Apparently you can park at the outlets a few hundred feet away.
