Do this myself. Little more challenging with small kids tho.

Never thought that I'd say this but Funck's restaurant often has a decent tap list and food if you don't venture too far out of the hershey area. I concur about the brass rail in campbelltown.

The rotunda and union bottle shops are a bit of a drive, but it might be worth checking out too. The batdorf restaurant/bar is next door to the rotunda and they sometimes have a good tap list.

I'd say the best places to buy cases near Hershey are Humbev and the brass rail.

We're going to Hershey in a few weeks and I'm wondering what the best bottle shop around is where I can pick up 6/4-packs or bombers and not have to buy a whole case. Probably not going to drink while I'm actually there, because we're only doing a night, but looking to stop before I leave to see what kind of stuff I can't get in NY. Thanks in advance.

Brass Rail was the closest bottle shop that i hit, they had a decent selection of singles, prices were high but he did give me a discount for buying a good amount.

Troeggs is worth a visit, it got busy later on but has a great selection and also singles avaiable in the store.

I would recommend going to Smoke, the food was good and tap list was one of the best i saw. food selection in the area is not the best tbh.

pass on Rumspringa Hunger-n-Thirst is a 1/2 mile from Fridge; 24 well selected taps. Funck's in Palmyra near Hershey has 50 some taps with handpumps.

The Beer Yard in Wayne, PA is a good distributor near Tired Hands. Not a bottle shop but great craft selection by the 12 or 24 pack.

Looks like The Brass Rail will be my only hit. If we didn't have 2 kids we'd probably look at Smoked, but my youngest is way too rambunctious for any decent place and Pizza Boy is too far out of the way. We're staying at the Lodge and we're having dinner at the Sports Bar (which I've noticed has some decent taps, nice). We're only staying one night, and the trip is for the kids not for us to drink good beer (crazy, right?). Side note: is Troegs convenient to the Lodge (walking distance?).

My question regarding the Brass Rail: what can I pick up there I wouldn't see in NY? I noticed they had Fat Heads on tap last week. Saw a few breweries (Duck Rabbit, Spring House) not distroed here. What local (bottled or canned) beers should I be looking out for?

Sorry to be a pest, but I'd appreciate any local PA advice you guys can give. Thanks.

When I wen I stayed at the Lodge as well, if you can I would try to NOT eat at sports bar, it was very generic. The hotel had a great farm to table restaurant and smoke was kid friendly and close in my opinion. You could almost walk to smoke. Brass Rail had a decent selection and the owner was pretty knowledgable(can't remember off hand what I got)

Troeggs is about 10 minutes down the road, also sfood and had a kids menu. Shop had a good amount of beers to go.

Hotel lobby bar at lodge also had a good draft list

Thanks for the advice. Problem for us is my youngest isn't suitable for any reputable restaurant which is why we'll probably do the sports bar for dinner. My kid isn't kid friendly, haha. I did like what I saw from Smoked on their website, so, you never know.
I'm not really looking to drink anything crazy while I'm there, just looking to bring some goodies home I can't find here.

I'm gonna try to convince the wife to stop in Troegs between the park and the lodge for a pint, but I can get Troegs pretty much everywhere around here. Gonna hit the Brass Rail the next morning on the way home.

Troegs had what they call their Scratch Series which are small batch runs typically only available at the brewery. They typically have 4-7 on at a time. It's worth stopping in just to try them.

If the general Troeg's line up is convenient to you, take a close look at what their store has available in the Scratch beer series. Most of them never get distributed and are brewery only purchases.

The question I most have at this point is what local stuff should I be looking for at the Brass Rail? And, what breweries do you guys get I don't? I already checked seek-a-brew but that's not always 100 percent accurate.

I was there yesterday, and picked up a mixed four pack of Barrel aged Mouffian and Barrel aged Troegenator for $19. Pretty sure those were never available in my market (Northern Virginia), which carries all of the standard stuff.

I also tried on draft the scratch series chocolate stout, gose, and collab IPA with Pizza Boy, again all not available to me.

Combine that with the above-average food and laid back beer garden atmosphere (preferable to a standard brewpub, imo), and i think it's well worth a stop.

I'll be traveling up to the Hershey area from Southeastern Virginia on Friday. It'll be my first time in PA, and I've heard the alcohol laws are a bit different than other states, so I'll be needing any sort of helpful information.

I'll be coming in late Friday, doing the Hershey theme park for most of the day (if not the entire day) on Saturday and heading out pretty early Sunday, so I won't have much time to explore. With that said, I'll mainly be looking to sneak in some time either Saturday or Sunday to grab some good beers to take home with me that aren't available in VA. Any decent bottle shops in the area? Should I pack a growler or two?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Not sure about bottle shops, but go to Troegs in Hershey. They have brewery-only bottles there.
