If you like IPA's I would definitely get Lone Pint's Yellow Rose which is only on tap

    Thanks for the tip!
Any up & coming breweries that are also tap only?

Also Karbach releases? I was excited to try einhorn but doubt it is still available.

Einhorn is Austin Beerworks, and you can't get that in Houston right now. Any of the breweries tours are fun, most are just a warehouse that is open usually on Saturday. Saint Arnold's brewery does lunch during the week day if that works for you. Always a good time there. My favorite bars:

    D&T Drive Inn
    Hay Merchant
    Cottonwood

All have good food, and unique tap lists from one another. Lone Pint basically bottles nothing, but are usually always carried at those bars. Live Oak out of Austin is my favorite in Texas. They are tap only, and do mostly spot on German styles. If out at any of the bars look for 512 IPA and Pecan Porter, two excellent beers. The group that often posts here can go into much more detail on the what, when, and where of most any release, brewery, store, or bar if you need us to.

Texas Beer Refinery just (like, yesterday) started putting pre-filled and sealed 64oz growlers at the Specs on Smith St. Claim beer will last ~2.5 months sealed and cold. Seems like an interesting concept.

    Here is the tweet: https://twitter.com/TxBeerRefinery/status/499265592260456449

B-52 in Conroe can be found on tap and what I've had is tasty and worth a pint.

Karbach released a new F.U.N. beer this week. I'm not sure if that'll be floating around anywhere this late in the week.

    Growler's Beer and Wine (Montrose)
    Premium Draught (Heights)
    D&Q Beer Station (Montrose)
A new place that I haven't checked out yet: Jugs Draft (Montrose)
A few of the Whole Foods do fills. I think some of the HEBs are trying to get some taps up as well. Many of the gastropubs - Nobi, Hay Merchant, etc.

Really depends on what part of the city you'll be in.

but the texas beer refinery beers kinda blow ass... or did at the opening party. marginal beer on a shelf in screw top, non-counter pressure filled growlers at ~$18/64oz?

    passssss

Oops! Thanks for clearing that up. Would have been awkward for him to show up with empty growlers.

    Houston was badass!

I hit up Blacksmith for a Cortado & a BLT. Sandy was good, a bit overpriced though. Cortado didn't hold a candle, but it's cool

Museum of Art was free on Thursday so I hit that up, cool pieces & found some art books on sale for 2 & 3 bucks apiece

Tried to do Hay Merchant but they were closed til 4.
Tried to swoop some IN & OUT but drove 40 minutes only to find an IN&OUT Shamrock station..dilapidated. Fun stuff.
After that went to Anvil for a nitro tap Cuba Libre (incredible concept) & a Live Oak Hefe (fav USA hefe)
Went to downtown Houston Spec's & luckily found what I came to TX for: REAL ALE GOSE. Also More Cowbell, Karbach Kolsch, Weekend Warrior, & my go-to: Modus H.
Ganked some Lengua Tacos across from Alabama IceHouse, hit up Petit Sweets for Macarons, then went to Hay Merchant.
Enjoyed a Cucumber Wit & a cask pour of Four Squared.

    Great trip!

    Cheers ya'll

p.s. Sorry I didn't hit anyone up, I wasn't on internet at all the past day.

Hay Merchants doors pretty much open at 3 on the spot. Sucks you did not get in, don't know why they would not open at their regular time?

Not lazy (kinda) but I'm flying into Bush tomorrow morning and was looking for info on where I should go for a pint or six. I don't want to rent a car unless I need to. Anywhere close to the airport you can recommend? I saw Premium Draught, is that my best bet? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but you need a car in Houston. Taxis are expensive the good spots are closer to the center of town. There are some spots in Spring/Conroe/woodlands area but again, a car is needed. Hopefully those closer to the airport can chime in on this.

Nothing up that way. You are a good drive from anywhere, and like said above you need a car.

Here is a thread on what is available at the airport, again, not much :slight_frown:

You said you're looking to grab a pint, which leads me to assume you are looking for a bar/restaurant and not a bottle shop/to go place. The best bets nearish to Bush are still a 15-20 minute cab ride, but they'd be:

Cottonwood - Full bar with great food and an awesome selection of taps.
Petrol Station - Beer only (no liquor) place with about 35ish taps and some solid food options.

Those places are about 2/3 of the way from Bush to the downtown area.

One comment on this, I believe Petrol/Cottonwood are actually/surprisingly the same distance as downtown - which would give you Flying Saucer as an option (D&T Drive Inn would also be insignificantly closer). I drive to the airport 2-3 times a week from midtown and have also gone to/from the airport from Petrol and/or Karbach and it's about the same time/mileage.

Basically @antoines15 you're looking at a rental car or ~$100 cab round trip to make it to any of these places unfortunately

Something like Hop Scholar in Spring might be a tad closer than Petrol/Cottonwood/Downtown, but not by more than ~5-10 minutes (maybe more if traffic into town is a disaster). Still looking at a drive of ~20-25 minutes though.
