Intuition is 2 blocks from arena and has good food options. It will be swamped on gamedays this week though. Not the best brewery in town but decent. Great space and rooftop should be open.

My recommendation is cross the river and eat at the Bearded Pig. Not bad taplist (mostly FL beers) and best BBQ around. 5 minute drive (less than 2 miles) from arena.

Have fun. I am going to all three sessions. Can't wait!

Can definitely concur on Bearded Pig for BBQ, and a decent taplist. For the sheer size of the taplist, Kickbacks Gastropub in Riverside (204 at present count), and the selection of Belgian beers on tap in the basement(!) is insane. Food is mostly average, and will likely take more time than you think it should, but it's still a recommended place. As far as Deerwood (and the Southside) goes, it's chain restaurant hell. You should definitely eat breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company or Metro Diner (Both have nearby locations). Your closest good brewery (with above average food as well) would be Wicked Barley. Great atmosphere, average to above average beers, and a cool spot overall. If i think of anything else in Southside, ill reply again.

If you hit up bearded pig then go to aardwolf for beers. It’s about a 2 minute drive.

Im surprised only one person has mentioned it but I am a huge fan of Pinglehead. My office for a while was on Blanding and being a beer guy noticed a sign that said pizza brew. I stopped in and was blown away by not only the beer but the pizza as well. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Everyone was cool every time I went in and even started bringing some of my S Florida brews to share. Very impressed with this place. IMO Jax flys under the radar in FL with some of the best breweries in FL.

Absolutely can confirm great pizza at Pinglehead / Brewer's Pizza, specifically the deep dish Florida Smacker! I think a lot of people haven't brought it up due to it's distance from almost anywhere in Jax, lol.

No place in this whole thread has someone mentioned Reve Brewing. Probably the best up and coming place in all of Jax. Not far from SS or Greenroom. There stuff is fantastic.

Reve was mentioned in post 52 and 53 above. I concur that they are doing some very good beers. Took a day trip to get away from Bike Week traffic in the Daytona area the last Saturday of Bike Week and think Reve is right up there with Southern Swells in quality.

Agree on Reve, I mentioned them in an earlier post in this thread (post # 38). Visited number of breweries during GA/FL weekend. Reve and Southern Swells were favorite stops! Spent more time at Reve than any other brewery.

Completely agree on Reve, one of my new favorite breweries here. It has been mentioned several times, but deserves another. Sours / Pastry Sours are amazing there! Decent NEIPAs and above average for adjunct stouts as well.

Anyone have any extra cans of imperial karate they may want to part with? I work nights and was sleeping and missed the release. Looks like they sold out in about 4 hours.

Do any of these places sell cans or Crowlers? Do the sell out quick?

Southern Swells does can releases every few weeks. They also do Crowlers on most of their beers. Swells cans usually last for a few days but last release they sold out in just a few hours. Reve, aardwolf and i believe intuition also do crowlers. They definitely all fill growlers. Aardwolf generally has a fairly large selection on cans and bottles for sale.

Bumping this, will be in town 07/30-08/01. Looking for IPA's mostly, Southern Swells seems to be the ticket.

Yeah Reve is more known for their fruited sours and stouts, but they have upped their hazy game a lot in the last few months. Southern Swells is still the #1 seed though for hazies.

Reve is open Wed-Sun, so worth checking out if you go to SS tomorrow. Not too far apart by Jacksonville standards.

If looking for a good beer bar near those two breweries (beaches), 9 Zero Pour is the spot.

Going the Jaguars game next Thursday. I'm usually at the beach and am not overly familiar with the area near the stadium. Is there anyplace within walking distance that has good beer and food?

If you are staying at a hotel near the stadium/downtown, there are not many options you can walk to. Intuition (brewery) is next to stadium and has Mojo (bbq) with a food stall inside.

If you are staying at a hotel on the southbank (other side of river from stadium), there are some good drinking and food options you can walk to. Below are walkable southbank options

    Drinking:
    *Aardwolf (brewery)
    Sidecar
    Posting House
    Grape and Grain

    Food:
    V Pizza
    Bearded Pig
    Hightide Burrito
And Much more in and near the San Marco square.

*if you are looking for some good bottles to take with you, Aardwolf is releasing its anniversary Barrel Aged stouts this Saturday. 3 variants. There will likely be some left Thursday, along with a lot of other good bottles/cans in their cooler.

Heading to the Cocktail Party this weekend. I’ve read through the thread and there are great suggestions for beer. Any updates people can think of?

For food, have reservations at Cowford Chophouse and Black Sheep based on an earlier search.

Also, first timer at the cocktail party. Any traditions or things that are must do’s? We plan to wander through the tailgate scene, with beer/booze to share. Beyond that...

We are staying downtown at Hampton Inn.

    Thanks!
