I'm going to be in Wicker Park labor day weekend, with limited time to see the rest of the city (I'm there for a music festival). Are there any close by bottle shops that are worth checking out? Specifically, stuff that doesn't get distributed to Ohio. I'm flying and checking a bag so I want to take full advantage of the situation.

It's not in Wicker Park but Binny's on Marcey Street isn't too far and will have a great selection. You may want to check out Revolution and Piece if you're interested in good growler fills.

Noble Grape on Noble and Chicago. Life's a Cabernet on North and Damen right by Piece Pizza.

There are a couple of stores with good selection in Wicker Park but they really jack up their prices (D&D, W Grocer). Olivia's Market has a small selection, but it's well chosen. If you head northwest a little bit, Vas Foremost (2300 N. Milwaukee) is great; or southeast slightly to LUSH (though, again, higher prices) or Noble Grape.

But like Bay01 said, there's a Binny's (Chicagoland's liquor superstore chain) outpost that's pretty close to Wicker Park. Good prices, but most/all limited/rare beers go quickly.

Look for bottles (22oz. only) from Pipeworks (they make a wide variety of styles -- all of them pretty damn good, but End of Days (milk stout with cacao nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and ancho chilie) will be newest, along with a pair of hoppier options (Something Hoppy This Way Comes and Ninja Vs. Unicorn); and if you like hoppy beers, Double Fist from Revolution (also 22oz. only) is worth picking up.

Before You Go has a full door of singles and the current Pipeworks lineup. Located just north on Damen, and cheaper than the gougey stores in WP. +2 on Binny's though for the biggest selection in the surrounding area.

I forgot, there's also a store called Evolution that's pretty much in the Wicker Park area. Selection might be small still, but I don't think they get too much traffic. I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything particularly rare/limited.
