Heading down from Hershey Pa to Wilmington NC in two weeks....

    I visiting some friends in two weeks in wilmington NC, What;s the beer scene like down there? They are Central PA transplants and are requesting me to mule some Troegs! Also is where are the best bottle shops(if any) in or around there?

    My brother lives in Wilmington, was down this summer. Hit Front St Brewing Co, decent brew pub, dirt cheap happy hour prices.. Then walked up the street to Cape Fear Wine and Beer, cool little beer bar with a good selection.. Check out Beerfly...

    Note to OP: North Carolina does not have drink happy hours so I assume this means for food.

    Lighthouse Liquors is generally regarded as the best place to buy beer retail.

    I'm stopping at Williamsburg Alewerks on the way down so from Williamsburg to Wilmington... not sure but motly down 95 I presume.

    All I know is that they were running a "special" on their IPA drafts for 2.00.. Call it what you want.

    NC doesn't do "2 for 1" type happy hour, but you can have discounted prices. FSB offers a $2 10 oz mug every day, selection rotates through their current draft offerings.

    Bars can put beers on special, but it has to be an all-day special. When out of staters think "Happy Hour" they think drink specials from 4-6.

    Good idea. Unfortunately it will be about a month before Cafe Royale is released. But there are plenty other year-rounds and seasonals available.

    as others stated, Lighthouse (on the way to Wrightsville Beach next to mellow mushroom) is the best place for package sales. Cape fear beer and wine (downtown Wilmington) would be the best beer bar in the area. Satellite Bar and Lounge is underrated and you can sometimes find some good beers there. If you are travelling through Raleigh NC stop by Tasty Beverage, Bottle Revolution, and Ridgewood Beer and Wine (for package sales and some drafts), and Busy bee, The Raleigh times, World of Beer, and The Flying Saucer (for in house consumption). If you make it through Durham don't miss Sam's Quik Stop....you wont regret it.

    It has to be the same price for the entire business day. So maybe it was IPA special day or something.
