I just bought my tickets to beer advocates American craft beer festival and I am quite excited being that this will be my first beer fest. I was wondering if any other of my fellow countryman would be heading down? Or has anyone ever attended this event before? Any tips on attending a beer fest? I heard pretzel necklaces are a must. Thanks
I went in 2013. It's still to this day one of the best beer fests I've gone too. Make sure you get there about 1 hour in advance if you wanna get in right away when the doors open, otherwise you'll be at the back of a 5000 people line up and you'll be missing out on some very precious sampling time. I personally don't do Pretzel Necklaces but there were definitely some people rocking them. There are food vendors on site so if you ever get hungry a piece of pizza will definitely be better than a few stale pretzels . Apart from that, if you haven't already booked a hotel, I would recommend the Westin Waterfront. I've stayed there twice (ACBF and EBF) and I loved it. Starbucks in the lobby, 5 minute walk from the fest, 5-10 minute walk from Trillium Brewing and 15 minute walk from Harpoon. Doesn't really get any better than that. There is also the Seaport Hotel witch is right across from the fest but I don't know if there's still room availability at this point. Some definite must hit spots are Lord Hobo, Mead Hall and Cambridge Brewing Company witch are all located in Cambridge (about a 20$ cab ride from the Waterfront). If you're looking to bring some bottles back I would recommend hitting up Social Wines and Fort Point Market (witch is literally right beside Trillium). One last word of advice, make sure you pace yourself at the fest and drink plenty of water. You obviously won't be able to try every beer so making a list of your absolute must tries is a great idea. That should pretty much cover it. I hope you have as good a time as I did and enjoy yourself and the beer. You've got an epic weekend ahead of you. Cheers
