I'm heading into Phoenix next weekend for some Spring Training fun with my dad and brothers. Anywhere I should look out for in terms of Bar/ restaurants with a great selection in the area. Or perhaps certain breweries to look for that we cannot get in California/ Colorado. Thanks!

Also going to Phoenix, I get in tonight. Any BAs for advice on where to go for good stuff on tap right now? Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

You should definitely check out AZ Wilderness, Wren House, Beer Research Institute, Huss and Fate. Great Bars to go to would be Craft 64 (All AZ Beers on draft), OSHO, Angels Trumpet, Papago, and in the West Valley Ground Control.

I'd say it depends a lot on where you'll be watching the games at. What stadiums are you going to or where are you staying?

Hijacking thread a bit - but heading to Tempe for the 1st time in a few years. I'm familiar with many of the old standbys (Taste of Tops, Gordon Biersch, Four Peaks, Papago) - but also looking for intel on new brewpubs Blasted Barley and Pedal Haus - worth visits?

Also, any new beery destinations accessible by light rail or short cab ride from downtown Tempe? (I'm sure I'll have my fill of Mill Ave after 1 afternoon/eve). Thx for the advice.

I'd totally skip Blasted Barley but Pedal Haus has good beer. Other stops along light rail would be Sun Up, especially if you like cask or IPA's. Fairly short cab rides or better yet Uber to Wren House which a lot of people seem to like however I wasn't all too impressed with them myself and Huss Brewing which has excellent beer and some good guest beers.

I'd check out Fate South in S. Scottsdale if I were you. Real close to Tempe and great beer/food.

Any opinions on Boulders on Broadway? Looks like I can walk there from the ASU area.

Seems like an odd place, I remember it as an Old Chicago once upon a time.

Walking is certainly out of the question. Too far for that. The place to me is dated, they haven't done anything to change it since it was Old Chicago's, their other place Spokes is a lot nicer inside. They do have a pretty good variety of beers on usually and if Chris is working (he's the one with the lazy eye)he knows what's good. For the post above, forgot about Fate South, and it's a 2fer destination since Papago is right there also.

Cool, thx for the insight. Will prob just stick to the Papago/Fate trip away from Tempe.

On a side note, I'm amazed at the love for AZ Wilderness. Visited last time in AZ, was entirely underwhelmed. Styles on offer that required brewing skill were weak, but seemed like they concentrated on unusual flavored beers & barrel-this/sour-that stuff. Weak.
