... to do "liquid" research  In town July 5 thru July 11. First real visit in six years (other than a quick stop on a bike trip 2 years ago)

If anybody is around I'd love to meet for a beer or three. Probably not bringing any bottles, though.

With the Euro happening, it's possible that GER is in semis on 7/7/2016 and the final is on 7/10/2016. Not really beer related, but please realize what you might be getting into :-)

My timing is at least consistent...

In 2014 I did a bike ride from Jena to Rostock. The schedule was laid out in January. We arrived in Berlin on July 13. It appears there was some sort of kicky ball event going on in Rio. We planned for a rest day and continued the ride on July 15. We intended to start at the Brandenburger Tor as that is where our map for the Berlin-Copenhagen Bike Trail started. At first we thought there was some sort of terrorist event as there were masses of people literally running toward us -- until we realized they didn't look scared. Some sort of celebration at the Tor. Took us forever to get out of town.

In June 2012 it was a ride thru Germany -- Düsseldorf to Passau (and then on to Vienna). Things got quieter after Amberg (June 26). Glad I wasn't Italian that night.

So this year's bike ride is in England, in August. I thought I would miss all the fuss (except our hotels suddenly got a bit cheaper  ) -- Then then opportunity for a quick trip to Berlin came up. I figure there has be a couple of places without TVs for those two nights. May be wishful thinking. So while Schumacher, Füchschen and Schlüssel all had TVs (and Uerige had a projection TV out front), Spezial and Schlenkerla didn't. I've never seen Schlenkerla so empty on a Saturday night
