Heading up to West Yarmouth this weekend....haven't been to the cape in almost 20 years (and was barely 12 then so I obviously wasn't drinking) and am looking forward to checking out some local offerings. Sounds like CCB isn't too far away in Hyannis? I'm coming up from outside Philly and know absolutely zilch about the beer offerings in MA/CC.

West Yarmouth will put you pretty close to Devil's Purse (refer above). They are supposed to be expanding hours a bit this week. Red Nun in Dennisport has a pretty good selection. The Bottle shop in Patriot Square in Dennis is pretty good as is the selection at Ring Bros. Bass River bridge can be a bear with traffic now that the Cape is getting busier so keep that in mind for travel times to any of the places I suggested (particularly on the way back).

I noticed a couple of people just openly drinking bottles (JA Framingham Lager, Blue Moon, 'gansett retro cans if you are curious) at the Brewster game on Sunday evening. I had never seen that before.

yup, I've made a side trip to Waterbury,VT during family vacations in North Conway,NH

not unreasonable to point out not so nearby worldclass beer places to a beer guy visiting the area, as long as they're listed as such

Thanks to this thread, learned of Devils Purse and made 2 visits over July 4th weekend.

Much welcomed addition to the Cape beer scene. Typical brewery scene : moe on the speakers, ween poster on the wall.

    Had the
IPA - excellent, citrusy and malty.
ESB - not my favorite style but full bodied and a big hit with the non beer geeks at family party.
Pale - wouldn't call this an APA, but another well crafted hoppy malty non waterey brew.

I visited Devil's Purse for the first time tonight and am impressed as well. Not a bad beer in the bunch. Really loved their pale and kolsch. Really happy to have them near by.

Whats the best spot heading out of Providence on 195? I would be willing to stop pretty much anywhere along the route. Does Nightshift make it down there?

Not sure is Yankee Spirits carries NS. I think there's on in Swansea. Also maybe Kappys in Falmouth.

I've personally never seen Nightshift at Kappy's. Last time I was in there I was also saddened to learn they've gutted their mixed six pack offering. Used to be any beer, now it's just a specific shelf. Lot of unappealing options the last time I was in there.

I saw somewhere that there was a new craft beer bar on Main Street in Hyannis. Going to be down next week, anyone know the name of it?

Whoever mentioned grabbing a 6 pack and heading to Mac's on the Pier is living life right.

Luke's isn't bad. Not great, but will get you by. Same with 7Gs...they had all the Sculpins, all the Cape Cods, Mayflower, etc this past week.

We have a house in Dennis and I've resorted to hitting Julio's before we head down from Central MA. If you have any room in your car for a cooler, I'd definitely recommend doing something...the Cape just doesn't have great spots if you're looking for really unique stuff. That said, if your goal is just to grab a few six packs of something decent and drinkable, there's no shortage of options.

Also, if the tides are good (out), skip Rock Harbor Grill and instead just bring a beach chair and a cooler down at sunset. Absolutely breathtaking.

I went to Devil's Purse yesterday and had their kolsch and citra table beer and both were very good. I got a few crowlers to go. Their operation is painfully slow though and not sure I'd go back. I usually hit up Moonshine as others have mentioned. Great selection there.

Heading to South Yarmouth tomorrow.....any suggestions on stores for vans and bottles? Also, how far is Devils Purse? Staying at the Riviera Beach Resort.

Went to Devil's Purse last week and thought the beers were excellent.

Citra Table Beer: citra and crushable - enough said.
Pollock Rip IPA: Really solid IPA with bursts of flavor.
Pale ale: not my favorite, a bit maltier than I prefer.
Double IPA - Seven Stones: Really solid, the brett is muted, and the alcohol is hidden.

Cape Cod Package Store in Centerville is a great beer store.

as we approach summer, this thread was worth a bump.

Also, I got a couple growlers from Devil's Purse over the weekend.
Table Beer #4 - Yuza Pacifica. It's on untapped as a session IPA, which isn't a bad category for it, but it's a little more than that. new zealand hoppy, wheaty and slightly hazy, very nice little beer.

I think I've had all their table beers to date, and they've all been simple, light, deliciuosly crushable.

Pollock Rip IPA - loved this on tap, but seems like the growler had gone a little flat over the 3 days since it was filled. (growler 1 was perfectly fine) Still, very flavorful and clearly a good beer.

I could drink Devil's Purse dry-hopped kolsch till the cows come home. Apparently they have koozies for their crowlers now, so you can enjoy a big boy can on the beach.
