I am heading to Downtown Indy this weekend on a last minute bachelor party and I am trying to find what hotel would be the best for Maximizing some great beers. I was planning on rolling through Broad Ripple on my way to downtown. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Indy is very walkable. No hotels in the Broadripple area though. Almost any downtown location is good. I like the Hilton Garden Inn. Close to Tomlinson Tap room with 16 taps of Indiana beer, cab ride from Flat 12. I don't care for Sun King and would skip. You can't have a pint there. I would also recommend The Ram. Yes, they are corporate but they let the brewer there Andrew go wild. He has a board with usually 3-4 of his beers. His barrel stuff is very good. You can't go wrong on Mass ave. Bakersfield, MacNivens, Ball and Biscuit, Old Point, Ralstons Draft House, Chatam Tap, and if it is nice I love the Biergarten at the Rathskeller. I would also recommend a stop at Twenty Tap on college.
Go to macnivens. The beer selection is great. Whiskey even better. The aristocrat in south broad ripple has 60 taps and great prices. Twenty tap has a great beer selection as well. They are actually tapping KBS, doom and boltcutter on wednesday. Ralstons on mass bass great beer options and If you are up for a modest hike south, shallos is epic. Crown liquor downtown and Kahns on keystone for beer. Or go north to Carmel and hit up vine and table.
If I make it, it will be later (after 8:00). I have a project to roll out at work at the end of the day, and I need to take care of my pups. But I'd like to get another taste of Doom and Bolt Cutter without needing to open bottles I own, so I'm going to try to make it up there.
the tapping starts at 5 or 5:30....KBS will likely be gone very quickly....so get there early if you can make it....I can't make it till 7:30 so I'm sure I will miss the "special" tappings....
I honestly don't expect anything but KBS to kick all that fast. KBS will be gone in five minutes, if that.
KBS is the one of the three that interests me the least. I've had it enough as I'm not really a stout fan. I'm all in on the BC and Doom though.
trying to adjust some schedule stuff so that I can make it for a bit tonight. would only be able to stay for like 1-2 drinks....won't be able to get there till 6:45 IF schedule can get adjusted....
sounds good man....obviously not expecting KBS, but am interested in some of the others (Backwoods Bastard, Doom)....hell, I'd even love a pint of Reds Rye....
I'll be there around 7:30 or 8:00. If anyone sees me, flag me down (since I don't know anyone down here yet). Look for the dude in the White Flame Brewery t-shirt.
