I live in Mass and my girlfriend is flying to Minnesota for business. She can only bring back a couple bottles. What are the top recommendations from you Minnesota residents?

I think Dave's brew farm is the only beer worth jumping out of an airplane for.

pull a DB cooper and have them land at the brew farm and demand $1,000,000 in unmarked beers? Sounds legit :grinning:

    MN Growler:

    Town Hall - Masala Mama

    MN bottles:

    Steel Toe - Size 7
Brau Brothers - Rye Wyne Ale
    Lift Bridge - Hopdish
    Summit - Oatmeal Stout

    MN cans:

    Surly - Coffee Bender
Indeed - Day Tripper and/or Midnight Ryder

But also keep in mind that MN is a great distribution hub of the midwest and there are loads of breweries from other states available here that are not available in MA (If I am remembering correctly, Bells, Odell, Great Lakes, etc., etc.). If your GF is at all knowledgable about what you like and what breweries are not distributed in MA, there could be other finds from out of MN on the shelves out here, as well.

-War and Peace from Fulton would be a great choice if there is still any sitting around.

While I nailed it on my list of what I thought wasn't available in MA (as long as that site is updated), I guess that I put a little too much emphasis on the potential "etc." of breweries that might not be in MA that are available here. Tallgrass definitely has some good beers in cans; Oasis, Ethos & Buffalo Sweat have all been really great and well priced for the quality.

2nd Tallgrass, all of their beers are solid. I generally don't take cans back though when on vacation and look for bombers.

Will be in Minneapolis this weekend - told the "uptown" area. Will be on the lookout for some Surly beers- unfortunately their tap room will be closed this Sat. Any chance Ill find any pentagram anywhere?

Liquor Boy in St. Louis Park (really not tooooo far from uptown) still has it. But it is overpriced. I think it's like $23. It was around $15 when I first bought it.

I still see Pentagram in bottles around MN, so keep an eye out for a dark bottle with a purple pentagram and other purple scribbles on it. May have a harder time finding it on tap.

Actually, two neighborhoods there that are side by side are Uptown and Lynlake and between the two, you can get some serious beers in. Furthest East would be Bulldog on Lyndale, then down a couple of blocks to Muddy Waters, then over a couple of blocks to Lake St and you have Bryant Lake Bowl and then down several blocks from there and you have Republic at Calhoun Square. If you are feeling adventurous, continue out Lake toward the burbs and follow it until it turns into 7 and only about 3 or so miles from Republic, in St. Louis Park, you will find Steel Toe Brewing just off 7 by a few industrial park length blocks. A no-frills tasting room, but one of the best IPA's being brewed in MN (Size 7). Also, Liquor Boy in St. Louis Park (other side of town) had a bunch of Pentagram and SeVIIn bottles as of yesterday.

I'll echo the Surly recommendations. And if your girlfriend will be in Minnesota on a Sunday tell her to not to waste her time (damn Sunday liquor law...all stores are closed).

Coming into town this week. Going to be there when Surly has a tour. What do you think of the tour since they opened the new tap room? Trying to see if it's worth the time or not.
