I will be in NYC from the 22nd to the 27th. Staying near 66th and Lexington (upper east side). Anything close by, walking quick cab I should try? Any place I should not miss while in the city? I do not mind cab/uber rides around town.
Also any good bottle shops i can pick up some great stuff to ship back to FL.

    Thanks

Jefferys and Pony bar are your best bets for walking distance. For the bottle shop Misohoppy aka city hops on 2nd and 60th.

Pony Bar UES is not terribly far from their either. If its a nice day there is a fun little circuit you can do going from 86th down 1st ave to 60th.

City Swiggers, Bondurants, Pony Bar, Treadwell Park, The Jeffrey, City Hops then back to your place. You can also throw in Elis nightshift between Bondurants and Pony bar if you dont mind walking back over to 3rd.

my three midtown "don't miss" places (in southern midtown, but close enough by subway/uber)

--ginger man during the day (not during peak hours)
--marta for fancy pizza/local draft list
    --haymaker

I'll leave the suggestions to all the NYC experts but I would pick some of this to drink in your room. Probably my favorite beer name ever.

In between Torst and Other Half you have Threes which is a must stop. If time allows there's Mission Dolores and Owl Farm (closeish to Other Half), both really good bars.

And if you are on foot stop at the Wholefoods Roof bar great beer and great view.

@FrankenMiller how are you getting from Torst to OH? If uber/taxi then the above all great reccos (although I'll respectfully disagree with the Whole Foods rooftop suggestion - I live in the area and that would be a last choice for me - the place could be great but I feel like they always have a fairly uninspiring line up - worth going to the store itself though if you're looking for any beer to go).

But if you're taking the G subway train (which would basically take you door to door) then all of the above are going to be a bit out your way. So I'll add Bar Great Harry into the mix. It's right by the Carroll Street F/G stop (which is the one before the Smith and 9th stop for Other Half). Same owners as Owl Farm and Mission Dolores - it's their original bar, and I'd say probably my favourite out of the three, although I'm a big fan of all of them. But these days I'd say BGH is your best chance of getting something special on a random trip (although you'll also catch tail end of Owl Farm's stout festival - they've had some cool stuff on offer)

All suggestions in the thread are good. Bottom line - make sure you check BeerMenus.com (site or app). Pretty much every place mentioned in the thread keeps their menus updated there (except Blind Tiger...who does it once a week). If there's something you're looking for, check there.

If you're going to Torst, I think Mugs Alehouse is worth a stop. It's a short walk. Great tap list and solid people watching.

I agree with the other posters who have suggested stopping by Owl Farm, Bar Great Harry, or Mission Dolores. Can't go wrong with any of the three.

To try something that is definitely NYC-specific, Keg & Lantern Brewing is right near Torst as well. Perhaps not at the same level as OH/Grimm/others in the city, but I've had a fair number of their beers and I've always enjoyed them. Gastronomical IPA is my favorite from them so far.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It was a whirlwind tour of NYC.
Went to Torst great tap list and incredible food, hit up Keg & Lantern as well. Decent beer and food. Went to the Release at Other Half on the 23rd. (found out my cousin I have not seen in 15yrs was at the back of the line when I was at the front)

Hit up The Beer Shop on Amsterdam for their 1r anniv. Hell of a tap list and bottle menu,
When to Ginger Man. This was the only minor disappointment of the trip. Is a really cool place but the tap list was a little lacking.

Best bar by far was Rattle & Hum. Great beers on tap, the bartender was awesome. And I had probably the best Shepherd's Pie ever. .

    Thanks again for the info.
