Heading to Orlando

gonna be going into the Orlando Intl airport and staying at Disney. I wont have alot of time to get away since I have a family entertainment itinerary. Thats why I'm trying to find out so i'm not running around. Also, what time do these places close? I remember last time i was there, liquor stores stayed open till crazy hours. Unlike here in Texas.

 

Publix and Whole Foods have had a pretty consistent supply of Jai Alai! Some of the smaller liquor stores my not be able to get it. Also try any of the ABC Fine Wine and Spirts they will have it.

 

Cask & Larder is a must-stop. Food and beer (brewed in-house) are both amazing. Probably my favorite restaurant anywhere in Florida.

Got to Orlando yesterday and went to the Knightly Spirits in both Williamsburg and on Orange Blossom.... both stores said no Jai Alai and haven't had any for weeks. Any clue on where to score a sixer around the Williamsburg/I Drive area? Trying Publix this morning.

 

You should find some at Publix. Also try ABC and Total Wine. Between those 3 you should be able to find at least a sixer. Knightly has definitely been out for weeks. Last shipment I think they only got 2 cases in to split between 4-5 stores (forget how many stores they have now), needless to say it was gone within 24 hours

Hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread but I have a question about Orlando myself. What's the closest store to Disney World and Universal Studios that sells craft?

 

There's nothing "close" per se. Just bite the bullet and drive to Knightly Spirits on Orange Blossom Trail.

 

Unfortunately that isn't really an option since I'm flying there. I was hoping there might be something close to Downtown Disney, even if it was just a halfway decent conveniece store or something. Thanks for the info.

 

I wish I had better news for ya. For drinking on Disney property there is an iOS app called "Beers and Ears" that shows what craft beers are available at different places on Disney property. Hope this helps.

Closest is the Poinciana Publix at the corner of 192 and Vineland. 10-15 minutes from Disney depending where you are on property.

 

I think I am going to start smuggling cases of Jai Alai from the brewery to Orlando for underground Beer Advocate sales to people vacationing in Orlando. Seems like a lucrative business...

 

I've delivered CCB stuff and other locals to BA's traveling to Orlando multiple times. Never asked for anything in return, though. You may be on to something here.

 

There is also a Winn-Dixie on S. Orange Blossom Tr in Orlando. I haven't been to that particular location, but three weeks ago when I was in Orlando (North side of town), they didn't have any Jai Alai at Publix but I found some at the Winn Dixie Liquors connected to the grocery store. It was fresh too, so Publix isn't the only grocery that carries it.

 

Seriously, try any place that sells beer. You should get lucky. I've purchased jai alai at 7-11's and those are everywhere. Who knows MAYBE the Hess stations on Disney property even have it?
