I'm heading to San Diego on Tuesday for 5 days and would love to try some west coast IPAs that aren't distributed to Mass. I've never had any offerings from Alpine, RR, or Kern River and would love to try some. I'll be staying at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel and will have a rental car. Are there any places close by where I might be able to try these breweries. Also, are there any other IPAs out there that I should try. Thanks in advance.

One of the best bars around us is Toronado on 30th st. Tap list is very good and they usually have RR & Alpine on tap. I mean if you feel like taking the ride (which is not a bad ride) to Alpine it is worth it. Beer and food are very good. Here is a good website that has a good amount of info: http://www.sandiegobrewersguild.org/
Click on the visitors guides. Now your also staying near the Gaslamp District so there are a few good bars in walking distance. Neighborhood Bar is awesome. The Beer Co. is pretty good, they are a brewpub and also have a ton of other guest beers. Monkey Paw is not far from you at all but I would drive instead of walking. The Coronado Brewing Co. is also just over the bridge and is very nice. If you have the time and dont mind the drive Stone is worth checking out and grabbing dinner. Enjoy this great area.

If you haven't had Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, try that. 30th street is a good place to go, and Toronado in particular will have lots of IPA's like BrianTheBrewer mentioned.
