    Hello,

I was wondering if any of you west coasters could point me in the direction of a great beer bar or brewery in San Fran? I will be there next week and have limited opportunities to enjoy California's finest beers. I love all the Pizza Ports, The Bruery, Russian River etc... My beer styles are Belgian Golden, Sours, triples and saisons. My favorites are IPA, Pale Ale, Imperial Pale Ales and Imperials. Let me know your thoughts and would love to find something I never had but would knock my socks off! Thanks!!

    Eric

Well... Pizza Port is in So-Cal and doesn't typically distribute up north. Bruery is also in So-Cal, and you can find their generic offerings in many stores. Russian River is in Santa Rosa which is about a 50 mile drive up 101 out of the city.

As for what's in The City, lets start here:

Go to Toronado and ask for a Cable Car, preferably to go.

So, if you guys came to Denver I would tell you by all means find a way to Avery in Boulder. If you were downtown I would encourage you to hit Strange, Renegade, Union North and Great Divide. Avery has so many unreleased beers that they sell at the brewery. With the exception of Great Divide you cannot get any of these other breweries beers at a store...

Hopwater Distribution has 30 taps and serve California beers only, so this might be the best place for you given the limited time.

No offense, but if we came to Denver we would first look at the Mountain Forum and do a search for 'Denver' before starting a thread, because undoubtedly there are 14,159 threads with people asking what beer bars and breweries to hit up in Denver. If you do a quick search for San Francisco/SF/Bay Area you're bound to find all the answers you're looking for. Don't put in any effort, and just start yet another SF thread...you'll get the answers that have been provided above. Have a great trip, no shortage of amazing places in the City and beyond.

Can you seriously do this? I went once and they had '08 bottles for a healthy sum and I passed...

Oh, you can do it all right, but your response will be either the bartender pretending to look for it and saying they're all out, an audible sigh and they'll hand you the bottle list, or maybe a good old fashioned "fuck off".

Or, if you have a draft or two before asking for the bottle list and you don't act like a douche, your response might be positive and you might walk out with a bottle of Cable Car.
