Early August I will be heading to Scotland, flying into Glasgow spending 2 days 1 night in Troon. Then traveling to Saint Andrews for 6 days 5 nights. Any pubs, stores, or distilleries anyone can recommend?

    Much Appreciated!

In Troon, Bruce's Well and McKay's are two decent pubs. The former often has cask Cairngorm beers while the latter usually carries cask Belhaven beers.

In St Andrew's you can't go wrong at the Central Bar and if you're lucky they just might have cask Lia Fail and Old Peculier. The old and faithful Whey Pat Tavern on the other side of the old town wall is always worth a look too. And The Criterion just down South Street past Madras College ain't bad either.

Shop/store wise don't miss Luvians at 84 Market Street for some bottled beery treats from the UK, Belgium and the States (not that you come all the way here for that) to say nothing of their excellent whisky and wine selection. Best in Fife for sure.

Sadly there are no distlieries around St Andrews though if you're desperate you could get yourself about 40 minutes or so down to Leven and hang out at Diageo's warehouses. You might even get a peak in at the Cameron Brig disillery whick makes a nice light and sophiisticated single grain whisky. Don't think they have tours though.

    Hope this helps David.
