Heading to Toppling Goliath this weekend

Make sure you realize that they have plastic caps. If you are going to ship them you should use plastic plumbing tape and then use electrical tape. They give nice fills but the plastic caps are bad for shipping,

Other than that they have tons of their beers on tap.

 

We have two breweries in Decorah, our taproom brewery is where we started on a nano system and have our class B license that allows us to sell at retail. Our production brewery is in a new steel building on the edge of Decorah in Freeport. We have 20,000 sq feet, with the brewhouse and tank farm in 10,000 ft. We have a lot of land to grow on and we do plan on using it

 

I love me some toppling goliath. Two thing they need to do to improve though; sell PAs/IPAs in 6 packs and sell exclusively to MN.

 

Thinking of making the trek up this weekend. Will be the first trip for this dude. Psyched!

 

I'm spending weekend in decorah with my wife canoeing, biking and such. We will be hanging at TG quite abut as well.

Not my first, but I'm thinking about it too. I love that place.

 

Hopefully they're open on Monday, I have to be in Chicago for my mother's birthday during the weekend but we are hoping to make it out on Memorial Day to have a few. With the way they bottle I'm doubtful I'll ever get to buy another release from the taproom, I remember a different time when bottles weren't hoarded immediately upon being delivered. C'est la vie, as long as David is on tap I'll be a happy camper.

I'm at the top of their list for MN distribution, and I've heard nothing. They have chosen Hohenstein as the distributor for down here (Roch and SE MN), not sure who they will go with up in the cities...

 

With the last batch of SOSUS bottles they decided not to distribute any of it since it was selling (and sold out) so fast at the taproom. I'd imagine any plans for distribution to MN won't happen until they can increase production. Seems like a good problem to have!

 

I'm also heading up Saturday, hoping to snag some bottles and prob a growler.

 

Was just there on Monday and no bottles. Sue is on but no growler fills so I grabbed one of Millennium Falcon. Great time! Supposedly, they're bottling this Friday so you should be good.

 

Might have Pseudo Sue, Naughty Temple, and David in bottles by Friday according to their Twitter feed recently.

 

Every time I am there to visit family, besides going to TG I make sure to stop at Mabes. Love their pizza. Combine that with some Dorothy's or one of their many great IPA's and you are set.

 

I'll give a shout out to the Cellar in Decorah. This is a pretty spiffy new bar that was "added on" to the Courtyard. They get some eyebrow raising stuff on tap every now and again. If you are hip to TG's scene, mosey down the road to this place.
