I am heading up to Okemo this weekend and am looking for some reccomendations on stores to buy some good Vermont Beer. I know that I am going to be way too far south to snag any Heady or HF, but was wondering if there was anywhere within a reasonable driving distance (45 minutes) to find any Fiddlehead or anything else good. I read that there is a good pub in Ludlow but not sure as to where to find a case or so to take back with me. Any reccomendations?

I ski Killington (but I have been to Okemo) and I will say that I have a hard time finding good craft beer locations outside for Burlington/ Waterbury, too.

Your closest bet would be Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock Vt. The have a good tap list usually have SOS on tap and a lot of other local brews. Great beer store right next door Hops N Barley.

Awesome. Sounds like two good shops. One is right there and the other is only about 20 minutes away. I really am just hoping to grab a bunch of Second Fiddle and Tribute To take home and a few others to drink with my buddies after skiing. Thanks!

House already rented on Okemo. This was planned by a large group or I would have been going farther north.

Don't get your hopes up on second fiddle, its very rarely sent out into retail and stores get just a couple cases.

Brewfest Beverage will be your best bet for beers, no HT, or Second Fiddle, but they do growlers fills and they have had Fiddlehead in the past(they only fill their own growlers fyi)

Toms Loft for Apres will have a good selection of beers. MOJO is top not grub with a few nice taps.

Fiddlehead hasn't canned any Second Fiddle in about 2 weeks and the next scheduled date is March 14th, so your chances of finding any in a retail store are about zip.

I would probably be willing to do an in-person trade at some point over the weekend if anyone was interested in some NY distributed beers for Heady, Second Fiddle, or any Lawsons other than SoS. I have some of that and a couple G Bots I could trade as well.

I personally wasn't a fan of Hops N Barley. Thought the service was rude and selection was uninteresting. I definitely didn't see any Fiddlehead last time I was there.

Worthy Kitchen and Worthy Burger are great places, but I thought they might be out of your range, and they are not stores.

Was just in Okemo skiing last weekend and found nothing of interest there - grabbed some Foley Bros and 14th Star simply because I refused to come home from VT without any beer.

Try running up to Rutland - Terril St. Beverage and Beer King. They get Fiddlehead in usually but it goes quick. Maybe call first to save yourself a drive.

I'd shoot these guy's an email http://ghousen.com/ and ask them where they distro in the Okemo area. You are correct, you wont find Heady or HF in that area, and you'd probably have an easier time finding Sip in CT, but they might have some good insights on where their range is. I grew up in Rutland and Terril St. is hit or miss unless you want to order a keg well ahead of time.

Just buy a half day lift ticket and head north! I was in manchester last fall and somehow scored some mastermind at manchester discount liqours. Worth a call at least, but like everyone else said, your chances of finding second fiddle are slim to none. Montpelier isn't a bad ride from ludlow, you could always see if hunger mountain has any HT leftover from their thursday drop.

I love Okemo. Had an awesome day there two Sunday's ago and the 6 person bubble is lift-riding in style! Brewfest Beverage is awesome. I picked up BA Big Foot for 12 bucks and Mother of All Storms. They had a ton of each. Call ahead tomorrow and see if you can reserve some Back Acre Golden Sour. I asked when I was there and it was all spoken for. They also fill growlers and I think they had Limbo really cheap.

On on separate note, the best place for beers at the mountain was the bar at Jackson Gore base. They had Smutty Finest kind in bottles for cheap and we grabbed a few and took them out to the fire pit in plastic cups for a break.

Looks like warm temps and hopefully softening snow. Enjoy dude.

Echoing everyone else it will be pretty much a miracle if you find second fiddle there. But Okemo is awesome and Long Trail brewery isn't far away. They have brewery only beers and pretty good food too. Have a blast homie

As as FYI - it seems Heady has been selling out at Hunger Mountain within a few hours since everyone buys cases. I haven't seen any on Fridays on the two trips up in the last three months. Your mileage may vary. I wouldn't hold out hope for this weekend with Norma being available at Hill Farmstead.
