Heading to Waynesville, NC for a long weekend. Looking for breweries within a close drive. I know about the Frog Level in Waynesville, but can anyone recommend others that worth visiting? thanks in advance.

I would think that your best bet is Asheville. Most of the breweries there are within a 25-30 minute drive of Waynesville...

Bryson City is an easy drive from Waynesville, Nantahala is a pretty cool place to have a few brews. Your still about 30 minutes from Asheville as well, and take your pick there most are good places to have a few.

You def will not find a cooler place to hang out in that area. If you have a few minutes, be sure to drive over to Sylvan and hit up the BP. There are ALWAYS gems on the shelf......shhhhhh

Thanks for the tips. I managed to make it over to Bryson City to Nantahala after coming back from driving the Tail of the Dragon. We hit LAB, the Wedge and French Broad Brewery. All good places. Brought back a French Broad IPA which was the best I tasted all week end and 4 foot drop from Nantahla. Left the rest for another trip. Forgot about Sylva.

French Broad IPA = Hop Devil, IMO of course.

Headwaters Brewing is in Waynesville, right off the expressway. Also Tipping Point tavern makes some of their own beer (they just started with a nice IPA when I was there this summer). Headwaters is a very laid back place in thier warehouse with quite a few drafts (and lots of games to play). Bar was full when we went on friday evening. Tipping Point has a very nice draft list also. Natahala is a little drive and Bryson City is cool to have some beer and maybe grab dinner at one of the places downtown. I personally would stay in Waynesville as I really liked the town vibe.

When I'm up there,I usually just hang out at Nantahala on Saturday afternoon when I'm done with my round of golf..
