Probably to keep away the masses, wait for a rainy day. Place is probably jammed due to the good weather

They are not selling it today.

They probably realized that advertising bootleg beer isn't a great idea...

They have before. Where have you been? Your thread is what killed it.

We've discussed that bars routinely sell bootleg HT before. It didn't seem to stop it before...

I was there 45 minutes ago and the bartender just said "It just didn't happen." I was the second one in the bar. The first guy asked for it, the third guy, the fourth guy, etc. The Founder's Centennial that I had didn't do much to quench the disappointment.

I'm sure the poll thread right next to the thread calling out TPH for having Heady had nothing to do with it.

You think someone's thread on BA had something to do with the cancellation? They put it on Facebook. I have a hard time believing that The Publick House is just now learning about alcohol import law. But who knows, perhaps thats it.

Let's not overplay BA's audience here. They have 3500 Twitter followers, and that is precisely the kind of message that friends are going to send around to friends "holy shit Publick House has Heady Topper tonight!!!". Plus they put it on Facebook. They most likely did it to themselves.

Plus, as emannths said, we have probably discussed bootlegged Heady Topper in at least 10 different threads in the last year.

Considering after I had asked if this was real on their FBook page they really did say "tomorrow night, 2 per person limit" something obviously happened. Why not just save face and explain to customers? Otherwise its just kind of a lame move. Especially if people traveled to have some and were probably shocked it wasn't there. If I had gone in for it and it wasn't for sale I would have left.

Do that many people know what Heady Topper is?

I'd say anybody beer geek enough to follow The Publick House on Twitter probably does. And even if they didn't, seeing an announcement like that would probably drive them to find out.

You know, I thought the same thing at first and did a quarter pivot to leave. Then when I looked up at the taps and saw the selection I figured since I made the drive through miserable traffic I might as well have one.

And Patrick, I was there before the bar opened at 5. One guy was outside with me waiting. Another guy jumped in ahead of us. 2 more came in within a couple minutes. I'm not saying that Heady Topper is going to bring thousands, but with 5 people in the first 10 minutes specifically asking for it you're pretty close to going through your first case already.

But thats what would annoy me. If it was done with the intentions to bring folks in figuring they would stay. I would just go home and grab a heady out of my fridge and make some food. The point is I went there to have it out somewhere and order something nice to pair with it on a Wednesday night. I wouldn't make the trip if it wasn't for that.

Last time they had it I saw some local douche at the bar exceed the 2x limit. Oh wait, that was me
