What are the chances Alchemist Heady Topper would get distribution in California any time soon? Managed to get a can and had my mind blown. I know they aren't near California but they would sell a ton here. Best DIPA I've ever had. I'm hoping that some day I can get it without trading for it, especially with their ties to Stone and the fact it's the only beer they package at this point... Any thoughts?

right now, their distribution is a 30 mile radius of the brewery. that has not changed since they started distributing about 1 1/2 years ago. occasionally they will send a pallet out of distro, 2x to Boston, 1x to Philly. given their current distribution,I think you are a long ways away.

I've heard something along the lines that 70-80% of all Heady Topper sales happen within a 30 mile radius of the brewery. Guess its road trip time for you.

Does anybody think there should be more breweries in America that resemble some of the European ones in regard to only one really great beer and sticking with that. I get tired of breweries opening up with 12 different beers that are middle of the road or worse. If Alchemist just brewed Heady from now til the end of time, would anyone complain?

Many breweries that open with 12 different middle of the road beers are generally not capable of exceeding that level, brewing only one middle of the road beer is worse than brewing twelve IMO.

This European model you speak of would not work here, I do not even think it would work as a start up in Europe. People like to twist around the Alchemist situation to fit arguments like this fairly often but they are a unique case and in the end they really don't fit this point.

No such luck OP. Heady distributes to a very small area in VT right now and all signs point to them not distributing to neighboring New Hampshire, let alone to California. Looks like you'll have to continue trading for it. Good luck!

Also OP don't listen to the people busting your balls about not knowing what Heady's distribution is. They forgot that they too had to learn of that fact at one point. I actually think you should get some kind of prize for this thread, because you just made so many BA's happy. They get to mock you for not having as much beer knowledge as them. They live for this type of thread. Probably enjoy it more than they enjoy actual beer.

Are you kidding you? You can barely get it in Vermont.

There is as much of a chance of Heady distribution in Cali and there is of Kern River Citra in VT.

Damn, you Californians are greedy. If The Alchemist expands anywhere it will definitely be on the east coast first. I doubt with all the demand there is for Heady Topper that they would ever be able to expand outside the northeast.
