We talkin' boogers, or the kind of snot you get when your body reacts to eating/drinking something?

I find that if I've had 1-2 beers, or if I've just finished a meal, my nose requires a good blowing before I can even taste anything again (or even breathe without snot flying out).

Please tell me how common this is.

Rather than lost though I think it's still appreciated but the "noise" created by the new sometimes seems to "deafen" folks.

Might have to send me a few for experimental purposes.

Yep same here. A Heady after a Sip of Sunshine tastes totally different to me and not as tasty. But if I drink a Heady before a SoS the SoS still tastes great.

You know what ruins the taste of a heady for me? Not having one :slight_frown:

That is true of any IPA.

That is also one major reason why horizontal IPA taste tests are basically worthless. The taste of the next IPA is always altered by the previous tasting.

When I drink a Heady as my 14th beer of the night it tastes incredible? But so does anything I guess...

18 hours and counting -- no takers. To each their own -- but that's a pretty convincing poll.

    Yes. All the time.

That is the American palate. Bigger, as in more, is better that refinement.

I get a fair amount of variability on all IPAs. I believe variability in my palate (time of day, what I ate or drank prior to said IPA, allergies, etc) accounts for about half of this. The other component in taste is variability in the batches (hops used, brewing process, etc) over which they usually have good control, and age of the beer, which changes the taste over time. Over all, there are a number of factors which may or may not account for variations in perceived taste. Thats what makes it exciting, or disappointing, depending on the outcome. You just never know if it will knock your socks off.

The first 2-3 times I tried Heady, I was genuinely disappointed. Same goes for the only times I tried Focal, The Crusher, and SOS. The 3/4th time I tried Heady either it or my palate was 'on' as it was really good. I have been hesitant to trade for them since (1-2 years) because of these dismal odds.

I find that an IPA after a berlinner or a gose makes the IPA standout even more

We had a Heady Topper last night and I really liked it, but my friends weren't blown away by it. It was the 6th different beer of the night. So perhaps we should have had it earlier.

I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'm gonna go out in a limb and say a beer or two causing snot to come flying out you nose is not common.

I find the longer I drink the better they all taste.

No more J-17. Impossible to get SAB to sell any from the 2015 harvest.
