Just curious if alot of people have tried 3floyds permanent funeral next to a heady topper. This is my first heady and it tastes just like PF. Any thoughts ?

I've only had PF once, and it didn't remind me of HT at all, I've never had a dipa that I thought was all that similar to HT. There are some I like just as much, but Heady is singular imo.

All Three Floyd's IPAs/DIPAs are on the sweeter side of the spectrum. Heady is like Hop Water with carbonation.

Had them both for the first time within a few days and I thought they were VERY different.

PF is on one side of the sweetness spectrum, HT is on the other IMO. Both amazing, but quite different.

I tried Permanent Funeral for the first time a few weeks ago and I thought it was very average to be honest. I've had plenty of double IPA's that I thought tasted very similar to it that were cheaper and easier to find!

Had them on the same day; the only time I've had Permanent Funeral. I thought they were quite different but Permanent Funeral was clearly in the same tier as Heady Topper.

Heady seems to taste very similar to Norm's Raggedy Ass IPA.

Both fantastic beers but very different flavor profiles. Both top 5 dipas for me

I agree they're different tasting. Heady is fuzzy and less filtered, also a little tart. PF is cleaner, more crisp and sweet. Both great DIPAs but definitely different.

To be quite honest having fresh Permanent Funeral on tap was amazing. Easily one of the best beers I've ever had. I honestly don't think I have to sweat tracking down Heady. I would like to try it eventually but with fresh Permanent nearby I think I'll be ok.

The difference is very distinct when drinking permanent funeral. If its fresh i will agree it is a little sweeter than heady topper but the taste is somewhat similar. PF has to be fresh to taste this

I seriously wouldn't say they taste anything alike other than they are both very hoppy. Both are insane beers, honestly couldn't tell you which I like more.

How old was it? That's VERY important. That's changes drastically day by day it seems. However, I did feel that I Enjoy Cimmerian Sabertooth Berserker from them more.

The place had just gotten them in.

I actually thought it tasted pretty similar to Pipeworks Citra (which is excellent) but what makes it worse in my opinion is I feel like it has a lot more alcohol bite to it for not being that much higher ABV.

Hmm, I had two bottles, 5 and 6 days within the bottling date and I had a much different experience, and I thought it was superior to the ninja series (aside from Simcoe Ninja, that was my fav). Not that I have anything against pdubs!! I love almost everything I've tried. I do however think it tasted more complex than a single hop IIPA, like Citra ninja. I'm sure if you tried it again you'd have a different experience, especially if you tried it on tap. I've had it twice at 2 locations on tap as well as 2 bottles.
