In contemplating/formulating my Oat Ale I realized that the ingredients are awfully close to a Marzen. So I decided to adjust it to a MOktobefest. The plan is to ferment at 60-62 which is about as low as I can reliably go.

This is what I have so far

    Size: 2gal
    OG: 1.055
    FG: 1.016
(Attenuation 71% per Brewersfriend but i expect FG will go a bit lower)
    ABV: 5.16
    IBU: 19.76

    Grain:

    1lb London Lager (26.7%)
    8oz Two Track M6[Munich] (13.3%)
    7oz Carapils Copper C30 (11.7%)
    5oz Oat Malt (8.3%)
    8oz Flaked Oats

    Extract
    1lb Munich DME

    Hops:
    20g Hallertau(2.5) @60
    8g Hallertau @10

    Yeast:
    WY1728 @60-62deg

Comments? Do you think the hybrid will work or just be a mess?

I like using flaked oats in some beers and I think this recipe will make a tasty beer. I do not think it will resemble an Oktoberfest due to the oats.
Good luck and enjoy your creation.

I did something similar. No Oats or carapils, but same idea on fermenting. I say go for it. I did and am chugging away at 61 degrees F. Hopefully it turns out good!!
