    Hi all,
I use 2 heat sticks to brew, 1-2000w and 1-1500w (they are no low density). I have brewed about 10 batches with this setup and really had no issues, the elements would clean up to the shiny chrome each time. I just brewed a batch today and both elements have a black char on them. I will not come off with a sponge, I need to scrape it off with the back of a knife. The chrome seems to be intact when I do this, but it is a PITA. Any ideas why this might have happened all of a sudden? The only thing I could think is that this grain bill had 2 lbs of wheat in it (most other batches did not) and thet the proteins may have scorched.

    Thanks.
