Heavy Gem

Just going to try and pick them up tomorrow. Today is a day for Guiness, Jameson, and Basketball.

 

This is what I really want to know, and am intrigued to see if we'll be able to have it on draft or sample before buying. I'm planning on stopping by sometime early afternoon to check it out - I was debating on popping a can right away so I know whether I like it to warrant an additional 4-pack or not.

 

I have some friends going at open, so I will pass along any information as soon as I get it.

Not hazy, not so much a NE IPA. Very tasty though. They do have it on draft for tasters only. They also have sexy heavy gem tekus for sale.

 

My friends said the BA Saison is ridiculously good and that the IPA is solid.

 

Do they have a line outside?

 

Nope. Just left. Only 1 person in the shop when I left

 

Humanimal Stasis is on tap in the taproom.

Not really a haze bomb, zero fucks given about that though, because it tastes pretty good. I dont love the Equinox. Good double IPA though. Probably only buying a 4 pack.

 

Thanks to all for the info so quickly. Sounds like a trip over for lunch is needed in order to see what I think about it. It'd be better for my beer budget & inventory if I didn't end up liking it that much.

 

They just told me it'll be on tap once the DDC keg kicks. I doubt I'll be here for that.

Drinking HS now, and it seems like a typical HA DIPA to me. That's not a bad thing, just not something I feel a need to buy cans of at this time.

 

Not sure I like the gimmick here, it's kind of turning me off from stopping by the shop tonight. One of the reasons I've loved craft beer here in Chicago is the connection breweries work to forge with their customers and communities. Some more info from the breweries involved with this project would be nice.

Agreed not sure the gimmick. They posted they did a collab and what styles they produced, with a date of sale.

Isn't that how it goes?

 

Heavy Gem is a collab between Half Acre and Tired Hands. They made beer. They'll probably make more.

 

I admit it could just be me, but I sense an intentional crypticness. Instagram posts without any backup descriptions driving this primarily. I understand it's a collaboration between these two breweries and we do know the styles and prices - maybe I'm asking a little much, but what prompted it? Is there some otherconnection between the saison brewed 2 years ago and the DIPA? Is the fact that it's a "project" supposed to signify something other than a collaboration? Is this "project" ongoing?

I'm a few years too old to be a millennial, but I'm entitled to answers, dammit.
