Baltimore, MD – Heavy Seas Beer is pleased to announce several new additions and changes to its portfolio in 2017. TropiCannon Citrus IPA will become available year-round, Gold and Cutlass will return in package format to the year-round lineup, and “The Alpha Effect,” a new hazy IPA, will be introduced as a limited release.

The barrel-aged series, “Uncharted Waters,” will gain the addition of an annual anniversary ale at the end of each year. For 2017, it is cleverly named “22.”

The “Partner Ships” collaboration series will feature beers brewed with Union Craft Brewing of Baltimore, MD, Cigar City Brewing of Tampa, FL, and MadTree Brewing of Cincinnati, OH.

Finally, the Boatload IPA Sampler, available year-round, will include a new IPA, Single Cannon, rounding out the changes for 2017. Single Cannon will be a single hop IPA, and the hop variety will change several times during the year.

“We’ve spent a lot of time and effort every year tweaking the product portfolio,” says Heavy Seas Founder, Hugh Sisson. “2017 will see the return of local favorites Gold Ale and Cutlass Lager, as well as a few new offerings to keep us on our toes. It’s a challenge, but this is part of the excitement of being in this industry today.”

Curious about the Alpha Effect. Can't wait to put it in my mouth.

wish they would do below decks in bourbon barrels again. the wine barrel version is pretty good but not the same.

I am pretty pumped about the collaboration with MadTree, obviously.

I am a little sad they aren't doing more uncharted waters like red sky at morning and below decks. Also cutting back on how many collaborations. In saying that, I am excited to see what the collaborations are going to be. Also the "single cannon" single hop ipa's I'm looking forward to. Hopefully my bottle shop will break down some of the sampler packs so I can buy them individually.

Heavy Seas is probably the most overlooked/underhyped brewery in MD. They make some very solid beers. Loose Cannon is still an exceptional IPA and better IMO than many of the nano-hyped IPA brewers that have popped up in the area in recent years.

Red Sky at Night saison was one of my favs along with their Marzen (haven't tried their replacement Oktoberfest I don't think). Really excited to try the Alpha Effect and Single Cannon.

I agree, loose cannon is a solid ipa. I think it is the fact that it is so easily accessible that people are turned off by it. The idea " if I don't have to look hard for it then it isn't worth my time" idea. Also it is getting hard to find loose cannon fresh anywhere in bottles anymore (at least for me) unless you go directly to the brewery.

They are really underrated but I don't mind because that keeps prices low. I love getting one of my favorite barrel aged chocolate stouts for $8.99 a bomber. Also their treasurefest (oktoberfest)is really good, one of the better ones I had this year.

Glad they brought back the Partner Ships series. Curious to see what they make with Cigar City!

For us here in PA the price can be a bit of an issue, though, as Loose Cannon is not that competitive and you can find many other really good choices at the same price or even a little cheaper. I really enjoy Loose Cannon and if the price was a tad cheaper here I think that it would sell a little better.

They have a solid lineup and I like their labels too and they have some beers in cans, very good brewery.
