I don't typically cellar any beer which is why I forgot about the Heavy Seas Holy Sheet from 2008, and a couple of Brooklyn BCS. They were both too hot for me when purchased fresh so I stuck them in the cellar (the actual cellar, not a beer/wine cellar.) Five years later....

I suspect that the Brooklyn BCS has improved but I'm wondering about the Heavy Seas.

It is 9% alc, identified as an Abbey Ale on the bottle. The description says it pours a 'deep burgundy' so I suspect it is a dubbel. It was stored in the dark. Temperatures in the cellar fluctuate from about 53-65 over the course of the year.

Any predictions as to whether this beer has improved over time or is still worth drinking?

I'm gonna drink it. I'm curious to know what the experts predict.

You should totally drink that. I found one that had been buried in my backyard since the Clinton administration. I drank it straight from the bottle and didn't even rinse the dirt off the cap. It was the best beer I ever had.
