Enjoyed quite a few Loose Cannons on a trip to Baltimore to see the Sox in September. Also, Max's Taphouse is a must if you're in the area.

I always thought their Marzen was one of the best out there, but haven't seen it for a year or 2 so I guess its retired. I was a big fan of their beers from about 2010-2012 timeframe but have cooled off last year or 2 on buying their stuff. These will interest me to try. Maybe I'm they're steriotypical target market for their new direction on beers.

I believe they changed the name of their Marzen to "Cutlass" during their recent rebranding.

I definitely have to try Double Canon, among others. But I'll definitely keep an eye out as I've only had a couple from them but they were both really good.

Earlier this year, Heavy Seas Gold was the beer that finally got my wife into beer. Now with both of us into beer, life is a million times more awesome. Thank you Heavy Seas!!!!

Cutlass is a Vienna Lager and not a Marzen (although they are similiar styles). I like some Vienna's out there (DB, Boston etc) but HS Cutlass I wasn't too fond of.

I'm not a local and the couple Heavy Seas beers that I've had so far have not really impressed me. I save my big dollar beer budget for my very favorite breweries.

I have yet to try something from Heavy Seas that has impressed me. That said, I am willing to keep trying.

I had to double-check because I was not 100% sure. From the Heavy Seas website:

"This malty lager is our most award-winning beer: it took gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival from 2006 to 2010. Cutlass Amber has a toasted, biscuity character. The slight sweetness comes from Crystal malt. Vienna malt contributes a remarkable smoothness and Munich malt gives an amber color and delicate aroma. Tettnang hops infuse the beer with a slight earthiness. Formerly named Heavy Seas Märzen, Cutlass Amber is our second best-selling beer. In 2012, Cutlass Amber won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in the Vienna Lager category."

Yule Tide interests me. I think Heavy Seas is generally underrated. I still would love to snag a Plank II, years after its release.

Red Sky at Morning sounds very interesting. I'm one of the highest raters on here of Red Sky at Night so this aged in chardonay barrels sounds like it might work out. Although I don't like Chardonay, I'm more into reds than whites.

I'll try to keep an open mind, but I've been less enthusiastic about their beers for a while. The porters seem interesting, but the rest seems like riffs on other popular beers. I guess that's how we get trending styles ;-)

While I agree, a light beer like a saison would be overpowered in red wine barrels IMO. It'd be delicious but there'd be a lot more wine barrel than saison.

Really hoping Siren Noire isn't gone. That brew is so solid.

Not sure if Heavy Seas has been quiet for a while or I just haven't been paying attention to them. Either way I've always loved Loose Cannon and some of these look pretty good so I'll be on the lookout.

Yeah, I hope Siren returns at some point. Very underrated barrel aged choc stout. Excited about the new ones though.

You can keep the session and the weizenbock, but I'm plenty excited for all the rest. Thanks for posting!
