Looking for suggestions of breweries and/or brewpubs to visit in and around Helen, Georgia. Not looking for a bottle shop.

There are no breweries/brewpubs anywhere near Helen. Grumpy Old Men is in Blue Ridge but I don't know anything about their operation.

We stopped at a really good winery and asked and they told us there weren't any. They said they didn't really know why. You would have thought that a German themed tourist town would be the perfect place to have an authentic German style brewery.

There is a pizza joint on the left right when you enter town, it had the best selection there. Not great, but better than nothing

That old bavarian restaurant is great but expensive, however the service there is top notch and the beers taste wonderful! You would think some locals would produce a nice decoction mashed beer or a simple pilsner with pilsner malt and saaz but no dice!!

Me and 2 friends visited Helen like we do every year to catch up and rent a cabin at mt. laurel falls. check it out. 125 a night and its bad ass. anyways. good bars only. Of course the old bavarian and hofbrau haus. Hofbrau has veltins!! The festhalle during oktoberfest has your staple german beers. The heidelberg. prolly spelled it wrong has some nice german selections but its a dive bar enclosed in the most photographed building in helen. big daddy's is a good place to drink too. Like I said before. SOMEONE should step up and brew a beer to put in a wooden barrel and serve it at the festhalle at 1pm on the saturday of their parade. a true german style marzen, or hell, a pilsner. I would volunteer and do it.I'll ask and see next year when me and my 2 friends meet up ther again. I just don't know who to ask about it.

That's exactly what I thought someone would have done by now...a totally authentic German brewery that brews great German styles. Maybe even on old style German equipment even. It seems like the perfect place for it. Instead...we just got a Warsteiner and watched people float by on tubes...lol
