I would never go back to that shithole of a store. The problem is that the women that go in there, often their shorts are way too long. Pretty much kills the ambience of the place.

I've been seeing it sit on shelves at Whole Foods lately.

I can't say I'm that surprised. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid beer, but I just have fonder memories of it on tap at BW than what I got in the bottle. Maybe I'm just crazy, or maybe my other tasters there got my palate funky. Totally possible.

People seem to always go nuts for new Firestone box releases, in many cases rightfully so, but I foresee this one going into the DDBA column: solid beer, but will probably be easy to find last year's vintage on shelves. At least for next year's batch.

I pretty much had the same impression, so we either noticed the same thing, messed our palates up in the same manner, or are both crazy. It is possible that was at BW was a different batch, but the timing would seem to suggest otherwise. Maybe there's an ideal temperature to drink it?

57.6 degrees. Missed it by .4. Damn. Oh well I'll "settle" for the other swill that Firestone sells.

Well, let's be real here, unless it's Parabola, it's not moving that fast. Even Sucaba sits on the shelves. It's no knock on the actual beers, but more to the fact that only BA Stouts move like that. Stickee Monkee and even Velvet Merkin end up shelf dust collectors compared to Parabola.

Anniversarys sit on the shelf mainly because the extra price point on those suckers.

For sure. Totally not a knock on the beer itself. I mean, it's not as good as I remember it, but it's still a great beer. More just commenting on the hype of this particular beer at it's premier when I know in future years, or even at the tail end of this year, it's going to sit on shelves. I'm sure it'll happen again at Firestone's next anniversary component launch, and I'm not mad at that. Always happy when hype dies down and I can grab these easily.

@Barchetta21 Just curious but when you had it at BW did you have the 2014 or 2015 on tap? When I had it at barrelworks I wasn't really liking the 15 as much as the 14 (thought the 14 was crazy good) so if you had the 15, I wonder how much different it is in the bottle than on tap.

Hmm good question. I've definitely had it several times, including the 14. I was there a couple months ago and went hard on sours before going for the strong ales, so it's possible that I had the 15 at that point and had just killed my palate by the time I went for it.

But I had what was possibly the first iteration (I'm not sure when they started pouring it) of Helldorado a couple of years ago and once last year, and those are the standout times for me.
