Hello from St. Louis, MO. It's hard to find a bar that doesn't sell Anheuser-Busch since the headquarters are here. There's also a few local brands that are decent. I'm into lagers and pilsners, more flavor than ABV generally.
Hi, and welcome! You'll find people with every kind of interest on BA. There's even a forum thread called "Let's Give Lagers Some Love." Not to mention people in your region trading information on breweries and beer emporiums. Cheers!
FYI - That's generally true in the rest of the US, too just not as hard as it was 30 or 40 years ago. But, the good news has been that many more bars offer alternative choices beyond AB and the other macro brewers (now reduced down to pretty much Molson Coors and importer Constellation) which still control close to 3/4 of the US beer market.
Hello, drnin4, and welcome to the BA site. What local brands have you tried that were "decent"? If you haven't tried stuff from Urban Chestnut which has two locations, give their beers a try. Their reputation is very good for the styles that you like.
