Not enough love for Greenpoint Beer and Ale or Keg & Lantern in this thread. I'd rather go to those 10 times out of 10 than Torst

As someone visiting the area I would rather spend $60 for a few beers and great food at Torst than go to Keg &Lantern for bad beer and mediocre food. (went there to meet a buddy and it was horrible we went back to Torst) *** The Polish chicks watching the Islanders game were all hot though***

According my book, Torst is "worth a once destination". I defenetely go there and try 1-2 beers, becouse it is so famous bar. But that's it. And to be honest, I probably won't like it too much. I think it is not my kind of place at all.

As you wrote FrankMiller, I am not too interested about beer costs (or food) when tavelling. It takes a lot of money enyways (Flights,Hotels) it is not big difference do I pay 0,5 $ / oz or 1 $ / oz for a beer.

Ok, I visit at As Is for sure. Probably at Arts and Crafts, One Mile House, Fool's Gold as well. I am a bit suspicious with Brouwerij Lane. But maybe. Paulie Gee's pizza sounds awesome though.

Torst is the Rockefeller Plaza of NYC beer tourism. Cool to see once since it's notable, I guess, but I'd never recommend it to anyone outside of that. And I definitely don't know any beer people who actually live in the city who would ever go there unless there's some crazy event happening and even then you have people lining up down the block so why waste your time.

the bar food at torst is much, much better than it used to be, if not any cheaper.

I don't see why everyone is so hurt about the beer pricing, especially since you can't get most bars to sell you 14oz pours.

While I have no massive amounts of love for torst I think it's worth a visit (tap list dependent) for someone that hasn't been before.

And I'll take it over Greenpoint Beer and Ale any day of the week. I'd heard so many good things about it - but when I finally checked it out was totally disappointed. Service, beer and food all massively mediocre.

Somehow wanting to pay a lower price for a beer translates to being "hurt." Haha.

OP, absolutely go to Torst. Worth one visit. I go there maybe once a year and then start saving up for next visit a year later. Haha.

In another thread, someone pointed out that they had a certain IPA or DIPA for $11 for 8 ozs. I think that speaks for itself.

I can and frequently go many other places in NYC because I can pay $3-4 less for 4-8 ounces more beer.

    I drank 4
I drank 4 beers and had a hotdog for 40 dollars on Tuesday, albeit they were 5oz pours, and the hotdog was expensive, though incredibly delicious. The beers were too. And I think the bartender forgot to charge me for a pour.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
