Hey everyone! I’m new here, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I’ve got a few built-in disadvantages when it comes to this board, so it seems. I don’t live on either of the coasts (Kansas, in fact), I’m a girl and I’m still a relative newbie when it comes to craft beer. I developed a love for it while living in Wisconsin a couple years ago, and there’s been no turning back. I’ve had nearly all styles of beer, from sour ales to hefeweizens to double IPAs, and developed a few favorites along the way. Not a big hop head like a lot of you dudes are, though a beer without a hop presence is a sad beer indeed. My favorite style is probably an amber ale or a brown ale, although one of my all-time favorites is a wheat wine. That being said, as long as it’s balanced, with a good body and full flavor, and not too bitter, I’ll probably drink it. Anyway, I’d like to get into trading down the line. Since I’m still pretty new to craft brewing, I don’t have a big stockpile to trade, but that’s a work in progress. I do have access to tons of Colorado beers, some pretty good local brews from all around the KC area, and a lot of Wisconsin stuff (New Glarus), courtesy of my sister who lives up there. I won’t put my wish list down until I get more to trade, but, of course, there are a few classics that I’d love to try. Russian River Supplication, Founder’s KBS, anything by Funky Buddha, Duck Duck Gooze, and some of the harder to find Goose Island. Also, if you’ve got recommendations for good amber/brown ales, wild ales, or anything with coffee in it, hit me with them! I can always read the Top Beer ratings but personal recommendations are always better. Thanks!
You can have some fun trading for wheatwines, but the best I've had is available to you - Boulevard Harvest Dance! Edit: No disadvantages: Shipping costs are lower when you're in the Midwest Lots of people here think they know a lot about craft, but they really just know a lot about limited releases I bet being a girl makes it easier to land trades... /sexist
welcome! if you like coffee beers you will love founders breakfest stout, maybe even their imperial stout. I will have both of those plus KBS pretty soon if you wanna do a trade shoot me a message.
i've got a friend in salina who is in the same boat. can't find anything good to drink either. at least you neighbor a couple decent distribution states though.
What part of Kansas are you in? If you are close to Baldwin City hit up Jeepcop on here and he will show you the ropes. Lawrence has a few good stores. On the Rocks and Mass Bev. They even have a couple good brewpubs. Freestate and 23rd st. I know all this because my parents are in Eudora. Cheers!
Thanks all! Looking forward to communing with you over beer . Rempo, what a coincidence, the wheat wine I was referring to is Harvest Dance! So good...I've got a couple bottles right now. founder26, definitely would be interested in trading. I'll message you. FosterJM, I am close to Baldwin City, so thanks for the tips!
