    Welcome, Bob. The quick answer is use all of it for a beer around 1.050. For more detailed help you should post this question on the Homebrewing board. Good luck, and happy brewing!

    Welcome, Bob. TongoRad has the right answer, but it may not be complete. You asked a very simple question without providing other details about a topic that is not that simple. Can we assume that you've already decided on your yeast and hops, or are you looking for advice on those too?

    3.5# LME ==> 1.053 OG

    No reason not to use all of it.
    If you're hell-bent on a 1050 OG...then use 3.3#.

    "medium golden beer"...your terminology suggests that, How To Brew, by John Palmer would be a good read at this stage...welcome...http://www.howtobrew.com/
