I have never made a trade before and here is my problem. I am not rich enough to travel after beers but I really want to try a pliney, heady or pseudo sue. But living where I do in Kansas I get no distro other than what is probably shelf beer to most. Solutions?
Welcome to BA. When i first started i had this same problem. I lived in south GA and couldn't get anything but shelf beer. A great part about being on BA is learning about all the beer releases coming out. For.instance, living in Kansas you should be seeing bottles of abraxas hit the shelf sometime soon. Those could easily pull multiples what you are looking for. Also, doesn't Kansas get prairie? When christmas bomb gets released you should be able to snag a few bottles and trade for what you want. Also bourbon county is being released next weekend. Call up some of your local stores and see if they are getting any. If not, i'm sure you could find a store within a 50 mile radius that will have them. Good luck OP! Trading is a lot of fun, it's like christmas on your front porch.
Thanks for the advice. I used to live in north ga, had a better selection there.that was before craft got really big but I managed to try and enjoy some sweetwater and terrapin there.
And no,even though prairie is next door they don't come to Kansas. Thanks though, I will look out for the abraxas
I may just give up the big ideas of trying my whales, at least I can drink some boulevards and my go to's from lagunitas
dude...you'll land them someday! this community of beer lovers is very generous and very understanding! maybe try to trade some locals for locals or something like that. good way to figure out the trade process, etc.
It may just take a while to learn the ropes. When I first started I had no idea what to buy. I was just trying what I could. But now that I have made friends with the retailers, I learned their delivery dates. So I show up when they get shipments in and they hook me up with the limited stuff. But then again, I don't live in Kansas lol
There are plenty of people in Kansas that trade whales. If they can get them then so can you. Just be patient. You won't get to try everything and you have to start somewhere. I promise Bourbon county comes to Kansas and you should be able to land some. They trade pretty well and you can trade some quantity for quality if you get the right set of eyes on it. That's how a lot of people get their whales.
I have a solution to your problem. I am obsessed with pliny and have the luxury of being able to get it. I have no trading it for other beers. I'm in it for the love and nothing more.
