Hi - sorry my first time posting and my first keg in my kegerator. So I just got a sixth of a keg and tried to connect my 2.5lb CO2 tank to the keg but when I go to turn the CO2 tank on, the gas just shoots out of the pressure release valve of the regulator and makes a loud noise. Is it because I connected the keg coupler and did the 1/4 turn before doing this step?

Even if I turn the gas on very slightly it shoots out of the pressure relief valve and not into the keg.
    Any thoughts please?

My kegerator is an Igloo 6 cu ft and I'm using a 1/6 keg.
Any help would be massively appreciated!
    Thanks!

If your regulator has a pull pin with a ring on it try pushing back in, could be stuck out. Otherwise you have a bad over pressure valve on your regulator.

Thanks. The pin only pops out when the gas shoots out and the pressure gauge definitely goes up and the psi is around 10+ psi after I turn the gas tap off.

I fiddled with the pressure release valve and stopped the leaking but I cannot get the pressure down below 30 psi even when I adjust the screw and turn the knob all the way as low as it will go. Is this still a problem with the regulator?

    Sounds like it to me.

Yeah I would just order a new Regulator and stop wasting over carbed beer. While waiting for your new regulator to arrive (if you order online) I would think you are gonna have to burp excess co2 out of keg.(unless you didn't leave hooked up for a long period at 30lb psi.
And get a quality reg. like a micromatic or such. Not another cheap chinese import that is gonna give you more false readings and leaks..

When you say "adjust the screw and turn the knob all the way"....

    - Regulators normally have a screw or a knob, not both. What kind of regulator is this?
    - By "all the way," hopefully you mean all the way "out," i.e. counterclockwise. You do know that turning the screw/knob "in" (clockwise) increases the pressure, right?

Also an after thought... If you had pressure up to thirty and just turn back down it wont drop back down without bleeding off the excess pressure by pulling the ring on coupler.

    Both good catches.

Thanks guys. Ok still a problem but a different one. I went to store and got a replacement kegerator for the regulator and coupler. New regulator seems to work but the coupler is just leaking beer like crazy. Its just pouring out. I've tried the coupler with one of the black washers. I've tried it with two but still just leaking out.

    Any thoughts guys? Appreciate it.

The leaking from the coupler is not just from the to where the wing nut is. It's coming from the mechanism of where the arm part of the handle comes down. One problem I have is the kegerator comes with a bunch of washers. I have no idea which one to use. I've used a bunch and they still give me the same problem.

Is it a D coupler and a domestic keg? Looking at the underside of the coupler there are two washers, a big one around the perimeter, and a smaller one on the probe which is what moves up and down when you pull the lever down. Then a single washer under the wing nut. There should also be a duckbill valve where the gas line connects to the coupler.

First jimmy don't panic. Second use your eyes! If the beer is coming out of the tapping device near the handle is it flowing down from the hex nut on top of the probe where the beer line attaches or is it leaking from the body of the tapping device where the probe and body seperate (which should be near impossible).

The hex nut to your beer line only needs one washer inside the hex nut. You should have put the the beer line nipple into the hex nut and then put the washer on the bottom of the beer line nipple inside the nut so that the washer fits in between the top of the probe and the bottom of the nipple. I only say this because I have seen people put the washer over the barb of the nipple before they put it into hex nut.
