i came up from Florida for the DeGarde release this weekend, and had uhaul send their 12 bottle styro shippers to my hotel. Unfortunately they sent moving blankets instead. Any ideas as to where I could get styro shippers? I'm leaving Sunday evening and no one from uhaul can help....

    Thanks,

    Alec

Just so I'm clear on this... are you going to be at the de Garde event in Tillamook today? If the answer is yes, I can take care of you I think. I have a 12 bottle wine shipper you can have if you want it... however, it's one of those cardboard insert versions, and the bottles lay down on their side in the box. I've used this before and never had a problem (they ship wine just fine), but I know some folks prefer the upright, Styrofoam shippers. I also have some 2 bottle, 3 bottle and 6 bottle shippers if you would prefer them. However, those are all mostly cardboard inserts versions as well. I have quite a lot of them (we belong to several wine clubs), so I'm happy to have you take them off my hands.

Anyway, I'll be at the event in Tillamook around 1:30, and should be there till 3:00. I'll also be in Portland later this evening as well if that doesn't work. Shoot me a beermail if this works for you (I'll give you my cell number, etc.).

Home Depot is an option. Their heavy weight medium boxes cost $2.09 and can handle 12-16 bottles. Grab some newspaper from recycling and you should be good to go. The small ones work great for eight bottles. Just use the cardboard case box and divider to separate the bottles with some newspaper on each end. Add some tape and you're good to go.

Are you on the coast near Tillamook or near Portland?

Rose City Self Storage/wine vaults down by HOTD has them with good boxes to fit. They have 12, 6, and 3 bottle shippers

Every dealing I've had with Uhaul has gone similarly. Next move, they will not be involved unless absolutely no other option is available. Sounds like you've got several solid local leads from the replies posted. Good luck!

Hi Alec - Did you find some shippers?

This is Bryan from Seattle that picked up that extra de garde bottle for you.

Yes he did. I think it's time to close this down.
