My fiancé and I are tying the knot on September 21st of next year. Being the beer geek that I am, I have decided to make my bachelor party a craft beer extravaganza. My groomsmen, consisting of my two brothers and 3 close friends, are all craft beer lovers as well - one of which, my best man and friend since we could walk, is getting married three weeks before I. What we're aiming to do is to road trip around the midwest for 4-5 days taking brewery tours, hitting bottle shops for goodies we can't get here in Nebraska, not drop hundreds of dollars on strippers with C-section scars and saggy tits, and consume excellent beer. Looking to keep it somewhat reasonable - say 10ish hours from Omaha, NE being the maximum. That puts us in the ballpark for Founder's and Bell's and could swing by Three Floyds on the way there/back. I'm thinking we could hit Chicago for some GI, Half Acre, etc action and possibly Toppling Goliath on the way back. Anything we need to hit that's close to any of the above listed?? Help a brother out before all my freedom is gone (haha).

    Cheers,

    Kyle

Are you looking to actually hit the breweries/brewpubs? Where do you plan on staying?

Out west of Chicago is a new brewery in Naperville called Solemn Oath, they have been putting out some solid stuff. If you plan on driving into the meat of Chicago, you should go to Piece Pizza, they took the gold at GABF for APA. If you were willing to deviate off of I-80, south of Chicago on I-57 is also a brewery that snagged the Bronze for the APA, Brickstone Brewery in Bourbonnais, IL.

First and foremost, congrats on the upcoming wedding! A buddy and I did a similar trip last month (but departed from Minneapolis). If you do make it all the way to Michigan, I'd HIGHLY recommend making it to Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids. This was probably the highlight of the trip for me. Depending on how much time you have, I'd try to fit in Dark Horse (MI), Greenbush (just outside of Chicago), and Revolution (Chicago). No matter where you end up, there will be no shortage of great beers to be had.

Congrats, we too are getting married Sept 21 next year and I'm thinking about road tripping with my buddies up to Chicago from KC! Hit up Boulevard in KC, MO has a TON of great beers available.
